Why does this stuff happen in Oxford and not Tupelo, Meridian, or Starkville?

Is it because the local university there promotes this stuff?

This shit seems to happen quarterly up there. It doesnt happen anywhere else. I hope a certain recruit sees that today while eating on the square.

That's what I was thinking.. Adams is supposedly on his way to visit today. (Per twitter retweet)

That is pathetic and embarrassing. I have no idea why a black athlete would choose that school.

It's 1964 in Oxford still

Can anyone dub the omb playing dixie with the video?

That's unreal. The only thing I could think about is that all those folks carrying that flag is racist. I understand that it may not be inherently racist but in the times we live in its represents racism whether we like that or not. And for folks to be marching around protesting with it looks reeeeeeealy bad for that University and our state. Every recruit that is considering OM should see that.

I don't think the flag itself is racist, but since a good many people make that connection I would respect that and not promote dumbassery like we see in Oxford today. In this sense I agree with UMCDawg.

This does not apply to Redskin, Ole Miss, Brave, Indian, Seminole. That is not widely hurtful, that is a small group of agitators.

Is this symbol antisemitic?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Swastika.png

No, the symbol didn't do anything wrong, but since the symbol is associated with and reminds people of antisemitism & genocide, it is unacceptable.

Not sure why people look at the Confederate flag any differently. Would the Swastika be looked different upon if there was some glory days German pastime that it represented before WWII?

Wait just a second. Did I see people driving pickup trucks in that video? What a bunch of rednecks.

From their facebook page

"Celebrating our Southern heritage, honoring our Confederate veterans, and apologizing to no one for remembering their noble deeds.
Mission
Our mission is to restore the honor to our ancestors as we debunk 150 year old lies with links to original documents and spread the truth of the War Between The States."

Links to original documents? So are they conveniently forgetting Mississippi's declaration of secession that explicitly states that slavery is the reason Mississippi seceded, or does that just not bother them?

Lest you think the confederate flag parade was just a bunch of outsiders making noise, I present to you a scene from a Ole Miss football game...

http://reverandandys.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/omconfederateflagsyq0.jpeg

I don't know when that was taken. Look at the people. Look at the hair styles. This is not the 60s, 70s, or 80s. This is modern times.

Obviously, that was taken before the school banned "sticks" in the football stadium. Wasn't that long ago.

NO WAY!!! Hearing OM peeps talk, all the "flag waivers" and "confederate types" are all people who are either out of state or have never attended OM.

What's crazy, is if you go to their home games now, try to imagine all those blue and red pom-poms that completely fill the stadium replaced with rebel flags, and you've got yourself a scene from an early-mid 1990's Vaught Stadium home game. Don't be fooled.

Here's another. This one is from the 1960's. Keep in mind these folks from the 1960s are now garden variety Ole Miss alumni - people who have reached their maximum earning potential. These are the people pulling strings in Oxford. Something so passionate to them in their youth, teens, and 20's doesn't just evaporate in political correctness.

This is Ole Miss.

And once again, same question that goes with the other picture...where are the black people?
