OXFORD -- Ole Miss' signing day surprise will be on the field when the Rebels begin practice Saturday.

Tee Shepard, a cornerback who flipped from Mississippi State on National Signing Day in February, has been declared academically eligible by the NCAA Clearinghouse, an Ole Miss spokesman confirmed.

Shepard is on Ole Miss' online roster and the Holmes Community College product will wear No. 2 this season. Shepard (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) has three years of eligibility remaining.

I never doubted they'd get him eligible if he really wanted to play there. What I was never convinced of is if he'd show up, given his fickleness thus far and the fact that he had an easy out if he changed his mind. Guess it all worked out for them.

Just think how easy it is to get him qualified, honestly. All you have to do is enroll him in online classes. That way he can have multiple tutors over his shoulder or actually taking the tests for him. It's a simple process now. It doesn't really teach character or pride in your schools education, but Bucky can give two shits about a kids education.... as long as they got stars.

No shit, they taught Powe how to read and write over a weekend and got him eligible. OM has also been known to boost ACT scores double digits just before deadlines as well. Why was there any doubt that Tee would become eligible? Shit, I wouldn't doubt that OM and Freeze could help a 4-5 star player walk on the water in Sardis Lake, if that's what he needed to clear the NCAA.
