It looks like Directv will offer the SEC Network. I hope they announce something before the end of July.

The SEC Network is set for one of the most successful sports network launches in history now that DirecTV, the nation's largest satellite company, emailed Outkick that the company is "quite hopeful" and "expects to be able to provide the network soon." The public comments of DirecTV square with the private comments of SEC and ESPN executives, who are confident that a deal is near as well.

DirecTV's negotiations with the SEC Network are part of a larger negotiation with the other ESPN networks, and while it is unclear exactly when those deals will all be finalized, it's a significant pick-up for the SEC Network and SEC fans across the country, especially for those fans who hadn't wanted to go through the hassle of changing providers.

"One of the most successful sports network launches in history..." I like the sound of that.

When DTV and Comcast finalize their deals, this is going to be a game-changer for MSU. No, we technically won't gain any ground on any other SEC school (as everyone will get an equal cut)- but this money has more relative importance to us than it does to the big boys. This will also put us and other "small market" SEC schools firmly ahead of other athletic departments across the country. A rising tide lifts all the boats in the SEC, so to speak.

Comcast already has flyers ready to go out announcing it. That'll put us in about 65million homes at launch -- with Time Warner being the last major piece left.
