Is he really defining "lucky" as simply winning more than half of your close games? What meaningless bullshit. The ONLY instances I'd deem as wins resulting from luck are those where a single freak play made the difference in the game, as in Marshall's self-completion, and the Georgia tip, and the kick 6 (all Auburn...). Since when is a team cutting it close but taking care of business "lucky?"

Yeah those "stats" are pretty pointless. The one point I think he makes later in the thread that does make sense is when he said Croom was 4-0 in close games in '07. Yes we went to a bowl that year, but there wasn't really any progress in the program. We were probably worse that year than we were in '12. Now if that team had an offense, then yeah....but gawddamn, that McCorvy offense was tough to watch.

I've always heard and subscribed to the idea that if a team is winning the close ones that is a sign of a good team not a bad one. In general, I mean, without too much overanalysis. Losing the close ones is a bad sign. Winning them is a good one.

Yes. Bruiser is trying to make it either you win big or if it's close and you win, you're just lucky. It isn't that cut and dried.
