Lazy Mag Southern Hopspitality

Nola Blonde

If you add in the miller lite when I'm on the beach or in the boat, these have been my summer beers

I have yet to have a bad yazoo brew yet. I had one on tap at Lost Pizaa Co and it was outstanding (IPA or Pale Ale type)

I drank one of my Belgian tripel home brews last night. It's been in the bottle for almost a year....it was pretty good.

I think it's Lazy Magnolia (could be mistaken here) that makes Southern Pecan ... one of my favorites that goes well with food

ETA - Welcome aboard Clareynet... good to have another outdoors guy over here in our quiet little corner of the board

I'm not much into beer, but I tried a sample of the Lazy Magnolia pecan at Mugshots in Flowood last week. pretty decent.. There is a place in Columbus Georgia called the Cannon Brewpub that has excellent food, but has an outstanding beer called Red Jacket. I'll drink a couple of those while there..

Southern Hopspitality is a fantastic beer. I love IPA's but when it warms up outside I will also go a little lighter. I just finished sixers of New Belgium Summer Helles, Abita Seersucker Pils, and Sierra Nevada Summerfest. All three are great for hot weather.

The boiled eggs are a nice touch, Beast, lol.

Have you had NB's Tripel yet? It's brewed with coriander, and it's pretty good, especially considering its a high gravity beer for the price.

Haven't had it yet. Those are fresh eggs that just got washed btw but boiling them for breakfast sounds good lol. I'll have to check our that tripel. Sounds like something if like and you can't go wrong w/NB

Yeah, I've been drinking NB for a while now. I'm a big fan. Unfortunately, in Starkville most stores are over charging for it like crazy. In New Orleans I generally get for about 5.99 a sixer.

You ever drink Bohemia?

It's nice. Was recommended it in Mexico years ago. Tecate and Pacifico are 2 other Mexicans I like

Good hot weather beers I've had lately....

New Belgium Snapshot. A light bodied wheat beer with a lemony taste. Although I'd prefer if the lemon was a little more subtle.

Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat. Great with a slice of orange.

Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat - Super good on draft. OK in bottles.

Yeah, I'm a big fan.

I also like it because of the roofing scene in Shawshank; my favorite scene in the film.

Working on a hopzilla with my deer tamales tonight. One of my favorites, but it can sneak up on you.

Damn. I wish I hadn't even seen this. Four of those are some of the best beers anywhere and I can't buy them in Mississippi. I may have to move just for a better beer selection.

Stone Enjoy By 8.16.14 IPA. Piney hop character....very good...also happens to be my 40th, so there's that. The NB Summer Helles has been a good find, and my go to summer brew is Sierra Nevada Summerfest.

I know it's not beer, but I've got a batch of black currant wine fermenting right now. I put about 10lbs of sugar in it, to go along with 2 quarts of Mississippi Honey. To say it was too sweet, is an understatement, lol. I let it ferment for 1 month in primary. I sampled it, and it was still way too sweet, so I pitched another yeast, and after 2 more months in the primary, the sweetness has gone down a lot (still a bit sweet), but.....its so damn boozy. It will literally be a liqueur by the time I'm done with it. It's probably about 25-30% right now.....

I've also got a batch of Irish Red going as well. I'm brewing with an Abby yeast, so it should be fairly high gravity, prob about 8.5abv.

Working on a Monkeynaut IPA now. Pretty good stuff. Stopped by Hops & Habanas in Madison and they have a way better selection than anywhere I've been on the coast.

Yeah, that Liney Sunset Wheat is pretty good.... has an almost blueberry taste to it...

Had me a couple Red Jackets the other night... sooo smooth!

We went to Sams today, and I got the 24 Mexican Beer pack. It has Dos Equis 'Azul'. Never heard of it, but it's really tasty. It's brewed with blue agave nectar.

I have been working through my Sierra Nevada Beer Camp 12 pack. There are 12 different styles and each one is a collaboration between Sierra Nevada and another brewery, most of which are breweries not distributed in Mississippi. It's a great way to try different styles and to try different breweries.
