3 years for 12 mill. Good player still. He is old though at 37. Still a very good deal for only 4 mill a year imo. Thoughts?

I thought he was retired.

He played alright last year. He had a nice 2-3 week stretch of 15-25 pt games and scored 28 vs SA in one playoff game. He's a nice role player and 6th man and great veteran player imo and for only $4 mill he is a steal.

I love it. As you point out, he's still a great 6th man and should provide us some desperately needed offense off the bench. He's still solid on D, too. Just gotta hope he can hold up at this point of his career. He may not be the player he was, but he can still be a guy that can help out a club. Plus he's a veteran who's seen it all, so he's not going to get rattled in big games and should bring a little stability from that aspect.

Chris Vernon said he expects him to start at the three, sending prince to the bench.

Chris Vernon is also an idiot. Wouldn't surprise me if he does start, though. But if it were me, I'm starting Conley, Adams, Allen, ZBO, and Gasol. Everyone else comes off the bench, including Vince & Prince. Of course, I'm still pissed we took Adams instead of Hood. He'd have been nasty as a combo 2/3 for us and brought instant offense. Plus he'd have been something of a draw as a "local" kid.

Add in Jarnell Stokes in that 2nd unit with Prince/Adams and Carter and it's not all that terrible, who else will be in the 2nd unit?

Edit to add, looks like Calathes, Leur, Franklin and Lee

Everyone is forgetting about Pondexter as well. I like a starting unit of Conley, Lee, Pondexter, Z-Bo, and Gasol. Pondexter is a good 3&D wing and starting Lee instead of Allen prevents you from having two D-focused wing players. Then Allen and Vince off the bench would be a huge shot in the arm energy wise and neither the defense nor offense would suffer, bringing a different look. I hope they let Prince stay in the rotation during the season to preserve Carter's legs as much as possible for the playoffs, but once its playoff time I hope Prince's minutes are limited greatly. If you get between 5-10 minutes of rebounding and solid D from Stokes I think its all you can ask for. I also don't expect Adams to be a huge contributor, but hopefully he can step up on the nights that Lee is off since he is such a streaky player and add someone that can come in and hit a few mid-range jump shots. I like this team, much better offensively than in the past but still solid defensively, with pieces that can be mixed and matched in variety of different ways to take advantage of match ups and the hot hand.

I shall remember this advice.

love this pickup as well. It's actually an upgrade over Mike Miller (who I did like). Over the past 2 years nobody has made more 3's off the bench than Vinsanity. He is also more than just a 3pt specialist (Miller).

Agreed. I like Miller just like everyone else, but Carter will be a definite improvement in that we'll be able to put almost the same level 3-point threat on the floor without having to play practically 4 on 5 defense. He also adds an inside dimension that was non-existent with Miller. People may not think so at 37, but the Grizz social media put out a video of his 2013-2014 highlights a few days ago, and he's still dunking on fools. He's got plenty left in the tank.
