He (Kirk Schulz) was also VP for Research at MSU, his wife was an ECE professor, and one of their sons went to MSU (and graduated) after they moved to Kansas.

So all signs are pointing to a matchup between K-State and MSU in '16-'17

that's a dangerous game for both schools. I don't see the benefit, but Im not a fan of "gray area" scheduling. Get a cupcake or schedule a premiere home and home with someone who will bring a benefit to State even if it's a 1-1 split in the series.

Splitting a series with the following is an overall win for State:
Michigan
Ohio State
Notre Dame
USC
Texas
FSU
Penn State
etc...

It could be much worse than KState though. I've always respected their program.

I agree with your premise, but I don't think any of those schools would ever schedule with us because they have nothing to gain and everything to lose

KSU was undefeated and #1 in the country two years ago before getting their hearts ripped out in the 11th hour by Baylor. They would of played for the title that year but couldn't finish the season. This is a very dangerous program and they are no fun at all to play in Manhattan.

Dr. Schulz (the wife) taught me in several ECE courses. Great teacher, great family, and great people.

I hope we play KSU. I don't see the fear that some have playing them, looks like a good match up
plus isn't juco ball good in Ks?

Funny how everyone expects us to go on the road first

The only thing that worries me about playing first is once we play there they can back out or want to reschedule the game. I think that happened with LA Tech a while back. I know there might be some financial cost to do it but I don’t put anything past athletic departments.

So...Arizona (Pac12), NC State (ACC), and now KState (Big 12)... Which Big 10 team are we playing in 2015 and 2016?

Yeah, cause Texas has never given us a home-and-home before.......******

Early 90s ain't the current era of CFB.

Basically to play a big time elite power, we are gonna have to just play a road game or land a neutral kickoff classic type game or just get lucky with the scheduling gods until we step up the program. For the most part, the power programs will play other power programs out of conference and the rest of us will play each other. As for "cupcakes", we have to schedule big 5 conference programs these days. And programs like duke and vandy have had recent success, so it's impossible to say any big 5 program is a guaranteed cupcake multiple years out.
