We are doing the Gulf Shores thing on Thursday and Friday but don't have a clue where to stay Saturday night in Mobile. Where is a good spot for bars, restaurants etc...? Also does Mobile have decent taxi service?

Renaissance downtown is a great hotel. I'm sure they'll be pricey though. That's about the only place I'd stay. And honestly, depending on where you're coming back to, I wouldn't even stay in Mobile. The nightlife just isn't good enough to warrant it. Go to Biloxi.

Dauphin Street mainly is the place to go. It's not bad, it's just nothing to write home about. You can find a good time anywhere. Watch your back down there though, thugs abound.

Only place I've been there is a blues club (Blues Tavern, I think) on govt. street. It was very cool. I hear they have a great strip joint there (dreamgirls?), but I haven't been in position to sneak that way as of yet. If you have family with you, Battleship Park is awesome. Get discounts at Ala. visitor center on the state line.

The college-aged bars are Corner Bar, O'Daly's and Boo Radley's. There may be more, but those are the main 3.

I can't speak to what a college aged kid should do but when I'm in Mobile I always try to go to the original Wintzell's on Dauphin to sit at the oyster bar and drink beer and watch as someone shucks the oysters that I'm about to eat. But that's just me. I'm a sucker for an oyster bar and cold beer.

If I'm going to get in a car after a game for an hour, I'd just as soon head home if I can get there in a few hours. I like Biloxi but unless you are just love going to the casino, I would just stay in Mobile. Mobile is basically like Jackson to me. Not exactly a destination, but if you have to be there for another reason, not such a terrible place that you have to drive an hour just to find a place to have a decent place to have a meal and lay your head.

...been planning on going to this one but just making a day trip of it if so. Staying the weekend with friends in Magee and just gonna drive down. The guys go to the game whilst the girls do something girly in Mobile.

Yea, I'm thinking of doing a take off work Friday thing. Go to Foley with the Mrs. on Friday afternoon and night....football on Saturday. Or something like that.
