You remember wrong, he got beheaded after he fatally stabbed a player for arguing a call with him. Still brutal, but at least it was warrented somewhat.

Actually I think that is also wrong. Somebody murdered somebody with a toilet in there somewhere. Not sure if it started it or ended it, I could see either way.

Nothing about a toilet in the article I read. But it does say the player that got stabbed threw a punch at the ref, which caused the stabbing.

I do remember seeing a story about someone in a Brazilian league match getting killed from people throwing toilets from the bathrooms onto the field. Apparently there are some ridiculously heated rivalries in the main Brazilian league and people kill each other in the stands, throw toilets on the field, and crap like that on a fairly regular basis. That's unreal to think about and completely barbaric.
