What sporting event do you wish you could go back in time and be present for?

Here's a couple I wish I could see in person.

1. Rumble in the Jungle
2. Roger Maris hitting 61
3. Tiger Woods winning the Masters for 1st time
4. Babe Ruth pitching and his called shot
5. Mirale on ice
6. Masters grand slam
7. MSU final four run
8. Magic vs Bird for NC
9. Reggie Bush vs Fresno St.
10. Mike Tyson vs Spinks

I could name 1,000 more and these aren't necessarily my top ten. What are some you wish you could see in person?

Dodger stadium when Gibson hit the walk off vs Eckersley in '88.

Orange Bowl when Flutie threw the Hail Mary.

Big House when Kordell Stewart threw the bomb vs michigan in '94.

Pontiac Silverdome for Wrestlemania 3 when Hogan slammed Andre the Giant. 93,173 in attendance.

Old Boston Garden when the Celtics and Suns played like 2 or 3 overtimes in the NBA finals around '76. Unreal game. Best classic game I've ever seen a replay of, regardless of sport.

Wasnt the called shot proved to be a myth?

No, it happened- the Yankees and Cubs players both confirmed it. But they don't have any footage of it. The only thing that exists as far as evidence is a picture of Ruth taken from a distance with him pointing into the outfield.

Let me correct myself after some quick research. The Yankees players and people in the stands say it happened. The Cubs players say it didn't.

What happened was the Cubs and Yankees had some bad blood and apparently Cubs pitcher Charlie Root quick pitched Ruth which pissed him off. Ruth then pointed- and this is where the debate is- either at Root OR at the outfield. So, Ruth pointed, that's not a myth. The question is where he was pointing to and what he said to Root. The fans and Yankees said he told Root he was going to hit a home run off of him on the next pitch and the Cubs say that Ruth was just pointing and cussing at Root.

John Daly sleeping in his car and winning the 91 PGA Championship after being the 9th alternate. Eight guys had to drop out for him to be able to play and Nick Price's wife went into labor that Thursday morning. Daly went to sleep on Wed. not knowing he'd play the next day. Unreal.

Bit ridiculous, but you asked about anything. So mine would be roman gladiators in the colosseum. Or the first ever Olympics. Pretty much anything else you can't find on film to see so I would go that far back

My mind pretty much went to MSU events but since you went way back, I'll have to as well. I would love to see a REAL medieval tournament, especially the jousting and melee.

I'll borrow from DudyDawg.

Pheidippides shouting "nenikekamen" at the assembly in Athens after the Greeks defeated the Persians.

Mine's a great time machine, too, since it can take me back to apocryphal events.

....that's a different sort of machine.

Hack, I thought there was a way they would fill the coliseum with water every once in a while and do a naval battle. That would be cool. Watch in a comfortable seat. I suppose they might've done a really big one on the lake though.
