Who, what, when, where?

MsStateBaseball

He will be a sophomore. Comes from Hinds CC. 3b/pitcher. 6-2 180. I believe he is a power hitter. Todd will know more.

Will he be with us this coming season?

Oh yes this fall. We are trying to fill the 2015 roster. I was trying to do it quick. We can start offering 2015 seniors July 1st for the 2016 roster. Remember Hinds played in national JC championship game.

Power and speed. Hit lead off with a .368 average 10 HR and around that many SB. He was wanted an offer bad. Big MSU family.

Led Hinds in BA and OBP. We need hitting, let's hope we have a couple more commits.

Pretty stout numbers in JUCO. Why did we take so long to offer? In looking at the Hinds page though I only saw 5 HRs. He did have another 5 triples as well though.

And...there goes Burdick's scholarship. That didn't take long.

As MsStateBaseball said- he was Hinds best player last year on their World Series team.

He is a guy that might have gotten overlooked in the recruiting process- he is from Forest. What I like about him is he hit 5 home runs with 14 stolen bases and he is a LH hitter. At Hinds he played third base and analytically, he was Hinds best player. The other thing I like is he has three more years of eligibility. That will give him a little more time to adjust to the SEC.

I could see him playing any of the corner positions. The coaches are going to have to figure out where Reynolds and Humphreys fit because one is most likely a third baseman and one is an outfielder.

He may or may not play a ton next year, but we lose Rea, Britton, and Vickerson for sure the year after that. Reynolds will fill one of those spots.

Probably because of scholarship money.

So was he just going to stay at Hinds another year if he didn't get an offer from a big time school?

Also, looks like we are in need of some middle infielders. We lost Burdick so the 2014 recruiting class only has Gridley. 2015 currently just has Luke Alexander. We definitely lose Heck and Britton after next year and the guy coming in that used to be at FSU (Holland) will be draft eligible after one year with us. Looking at our current roster I only see Hann as another middle infielder that has at least 2 years left but I've not been very impressed with him so far.

know anything about him? Tracy was a very solid player for a few years back.

My thoughts exactly. We need another MIF this year. Is Hann totally healthy, totally committed to the program? Again, we may add players and we won't know until august or later.

Whether he is or not, so far he has only shown himself to be a journeyman type player. So far production out of both of the Canadiens has been quite disappointing.

I hope you're right, but that's very high praise for a guy yet to wear the maroon and white

This guy is playing for us next year right? Sorry if I missed where he committed

Holland started/played as a freshman at Florida State then was player of the year this past season for his JC conference. He can handle it.

Oh yea the Florida St. guy, that's what I know him buy, the Florida St. transfer. Haha sorry I'll try to remember the name now. Sounds like a stud and our leadoff hitter from day 1. We get him for 2 years if lucky 1 if he goes pro? Never know I guess since the 40th rounders go pro these days.**

Indeed. People were saying that Pirtle was the best second baseman we've ever had in the storied history of MSU baseball. I hope this guy is better than Pirtle, but those are some mighty big shoes to fill.

I don't know what HS. He is not on perfect game site. Dawg61, baseball teams are built for 1 year. Cohen is worried about 2015 right now. He don't want to lose to anybody. He is building the 2015 team to win period. July 1st he will offer 2015 seniors. There are no rebuilding years. Each year he tries to win championships.

Watching the CWS, two things are obvious. You better have a deep pitching staff, and you better have an outfield that can cover some ground and field the ball if you plan on winning in that ball park.

If you notice our recruiting, we sign only freshmen in November. Then as spring progresses and we know what we got and need, JC's fill the void. And we've gotten some darn good ones before.

thought that was right. He was one of the best HS baseball players ive ever seen play. The kid could pitch if needed too.

Yep, I'm still amazed at what we pulled off last year with essentially one high quality starting pitcher.

As good or better than the best all-around 2B we've ever had? Well, at least you've set manageable expectations.

Without looking at Holland in person, I'd say so.

We will have to find out in fall ball. Those two will start though. They will switch positions the whole fall to see if it fits.
