Updated numbers on #MissState DT Chris Jones: 305 lbs, 4.56 40-yd dash and a 36" waistline. Pure monster.

From an Ole Miss guy too.

Top 10 draft pick, if not top 5. That's ridiculous

Any takers that there's an upcoming release that Kimchee ran a 4.55 forty?

Thing is: he can only get better in our S&C program. We still have another year with him guaranteed.

I hate to know that I can't outrun a 6'6" 305 lb. man. Thank god for guns.

Amen, and Amen.

Seriously, Chris will wreak havoc at any of four positions on the DL with that combo of size, strength, and speed. If his technique is also gaining as much as I have heard, then he will be one of the best D linemen to have played. I wish him the best.

Thanks, I just literally laughed out loud during a conference call. Awkward.

That forty time just got my little cowbell ringin if u feel me. I know how much weight factors into the success of a RB is there any chance we could use CJ in a goal line scenario? He has weight on everybody and even has better height than most LBs. Put him next to the #DakAttack in the shotgun and you've got 550lbs of steel headed north or south baby!

This seems hard to believe. If it's accurate, I wonder if anyone over 300 pounds has recorded a better time...

clowney ran under a 4.5 i think, but i dont think he is under 300lbs

eta: clowney is under 300 at only 265

Clowney ran a 4.53 at 266. There's no way CJ ACTUALLY ran a 4.56 (probably hand-time), BUT to even be in the ballpark at 305 is unreal...

this guys made headlines. however he is an OL. CJ's is much faster.

Just a thought. Heavier RBs = more success. Its not rocket surgery.

I understand the thought behind it, but with williams and shump, i just dont see it as a necessary risk

We have a stable of short, stocky runners that can blast through guys. No reason to get cute with our offense and put a DT in there. We are NOT Ole Miss and we don't need to put CJ in the backfield. He doesn't have a future at RB, so why be cute with it?

exactly. Rstate, didnt mean to blast your idea, but I just don't see it happening, nor would i want it to

The biggest problem I see with putting your DT at RB is that he's not used to carrying the ball, especially in the kind of traffic that would come with a goal line/short yardage situation. It adds way too much risk for only a marginal increase in push. Maybe it made a little sense for OM since they didn't have a RB who could generate any push at all, but we don't have that embarrassing problem.

Is it likely he will lineup vs Tunsil this year? I'd like to watch that matchup.

Be ready for a lot of "look out" blocks against CJ this year.

I'm inclined to agree considering Paul spoke to him at camp like 4 days ago and Chris said he would be on crutches for a couple weeks but would be ready to go in mid-July. But it's still good press.

Not only that, the Dead Indians would get a hard-on seeing CJ on offense and he'd probably blow out a knee trying to block someone.

Why would we line him up against Tunsil and negate our advantage? I'd line him up against their worst player and just let him blow up every play they try to run or make it to where they can only run to one side of the field.

The only way I would consider lining him up against Tunsil, is if he can clearly beat Tunsil. This circumstance would force Ole Miss to use their double team to help their best offensive lineman. By havin to double team Jones with Tunsil involved, Ole Miss would be royally screwed everywhere else on the line. Preston Smith would have one on one with against a marginal player.

Basically, Jones better be prepared to be chopped blocked consistently every Saturday. That will be other teams strategy. Hope he doesn't get hurt.

Wherever he lines up and get the double team remember that will leave Nick James on the other side. If he has truly gotten the fire and drive back then we have an absolute nightmare of an interior line. Throw in our DE's and LB's and we will have D coordinators throwing up from nerves on how to stop our rush. We may not have to blitz a safety or corner all season.

The vision in my head is what Nebraska's DL looked like with Suh. Specifically the UT game, They only rushed 4 all game long and were killing Colt McCoy.
