To be fair, they were up against a stud pitcher, but still, they got 1-hit. As good as this guy is, he averaged giving up 5 hits a game. Ole Miss is supposed to be one of the better hitting teams, right? You'd expect them to get north of 5 hits in 9 innings, certainly not just 1. Yes, it can happen, but has happened in the CWS just 4 times since moving to aluminum bats. And this is the first time in something like 3 decades.

Right. And the SEC baseball tournament used to be the same format until we added 2 more teams and then we made semifinal Saturday single elimination just to help teams save arms for the regionals . But the SEC Touney Final has always been 1 game 1 winner. I think it was 2001 that we lost 1 but beat an undefeated LSU team in the finals to win the SEC Tournament crown. May have been 2000. Not sure. I loved that team.

Personally, I want TCU to win the whole thing. I don't like Virginia because their fans suck. I don't like Vandy because for some reason in baseball their fans suck. I want it to be a TCU vs Vandy final with TCU sweeping Vandy in the championship series. Ole Miss isn't beating either of these teams in the winner's bracket. Bianco needs to write the Texas Tech closer a thank you note for screwing the pooch on that double play ball. I guess I am used to our pitchers making that play but that guy looked like he had never caught a ground ball before.

The bad news is that they won, the good news is that their top 2 guys have already pitched. I expect to see a revolving door of pitchers on Thursday if Sam Smith (assuming he starts) struggles. With the way OM has been hitting, if they get down early by 2 or more runs they could be in trouble.
