Is that a rule violation or something? If not, who cares? Good thinking by him.

I could see something on the hat but I'm not too familiar with the stuff. But if true at least he wasn't dumb enough to put it on his neck like the Yankees(?) pitcher a few weeks ago.

If you constantly touch the same spot on your hat, the oil from your skin will eventually create a dark spot in that area.

And if anyone has ever watched Craig Kimbrel pitch, he does the exact same thing with his hat. This isn't some earth shattering thing, many pitchers do that. Just let it go... unless the umpires actively caught him with pine tar on his hat (see Pineda), then nothing will ever be done about it.

Pretty sure whatever was on his hat didn't help create 6 runs. Or give UL a completely inept bullpin.

It shut down ULL's tradition of momentum and big innings.

Huh? Your way would take a couple thousand years to build up that level of tar on a helmet, if it is even possible. Don't nflirgr human skin oil would solidify like that ever, unless the temps dropped dramatically.

They could have been using the old -5 bats and it wouldn't have changed ULL's inability to throw strikes, especially early in the count. You can't walk 8 and expect to win against a good hitting team.

2 HR had nothing to do with tar on his hat...just let it be.

He is talking about the cloth bill of the pitcher's hat, not the batter's helmet.
