Rumor on twitter is that 4* 2016 DT recruit Briston Guidry will commit this weekend, or already has. Just hasn't hit the wire yet. Big defensive tackle out of Metairie, Louisiana.

One of the top 3-4 "athletes" in the country when totally healthy. Health is a bit of a concern with the amount of hits he's taken through high school. He's a bigger, faster, stronger version of Jameon...

Me too. When Ole Miss gears up for that one highest priority flip, there's about a 80% chance they get him.

He looks like more like Jerious Norwood than Tubby.

Your post comes across like a 'put down' to Dear.....in order for tsun to 'outbid' us....two things would have to be true...(1) we did something underhanded (made a bid to get him) and (2) M. Dear would have to be a person of little, if any, character who would be willing to go to the highest bidder......none of those two things are true....do folks ever think about how their comments sound before posting????

I like his running style. He glides and has that deceptive speed. Plus, he has incredible balance. He's going to be a great slot guy.

ShotgunDawg
06-07-2014, 11:16 PM
Dear is a very unique player, and I don't think Jameon or Norwood are very good comps.

He has the elusiveness of Jameon, but with more power, and doesn't have the top end speed of Norwood, but has a lower center of gravity and more ability to make people miss. I don't think he is as fast as Percy Harvin, so I don't think that is a great comp either, although, I believe he'll effectively play that role in our offense. I think Marshall Faulk is probably the best comparison that I can think of at the moment. A true hybrid slot receiver and running back.

I think the term "hybrid" gets thrown around loosely these days, but I really think that is what this player is. We could run some triple option type stuff with Dak/ Staley/ Fitz/ Williams/ Virgil/ Tiano. This guy is a true hybrid that opens up the offense.

Dawg61
06-07-2014, 11:23 PM
Looks like a RB to me that can also catch the ball downfield.

hacker
06-07-2014, 11:52 PM
I think Harvin is the obvious comparison because that is how we plan to use him in the offense. It doesn't matter if he doesn't have the exact same specs as Harvin, but he will play like Harvin in our offense.

Dear is the kind of guy that can come in and have an impact on our offense on day one.

I saw the guy almost single handedly beat Madison Central his sophomore year.

he's faster and stronger than Bump, but they are very similar players. I'd expect about the same from him in terms of production, which means he could be competing to break records by his Jr and Sr season.

No it isn't. They just reorganize their "priorities" as OUR "priorities" tell them to 17 off. Gerri Green was either the #1 or #2 player they wanted overall in the state of MS last year. They came HARD after Bryant and Williams. But for some reason, MSU fans buy the bullshit OM talking points -- and then even pass them off as their own ideas.

I have no hope on getting Lewis at this point. Its a very rare thing that we flip a highly rated recruit from another SEC power program (or OM either for that matter). We did get Thomas away from TN last year but he was only a 3 star on most ratings and I'm not sure what effort TN put into keeping him. Highest rated flip we've had any time recently was from Ross and he was an out of conference commit (OK ST). Still continues to amaze me how OM can mysteriously flip recruits year after year with strange circumstances surrounding the recruit but we are always the ones getting in trouble with the NCAA.

Todd4State

I think our only chance at Lewis is if Alabama find like five LB's that they really want and have to drop someone. Which is actually possible, but I don't know how likely it is.
