The new cowbell & stadium music rule is any time except when the center is over the football and during a play.

Hell yes!

The article reads like Scott sold this on the basis of improving the fan experience. Well I'll be damned. Way to go Strick!

Sweet. It's stupid as hell that it isn't legal to ring em whenever we want anyway. Our stadium isn't as large as LSU, Bama, Auburn, UF, etc. Even with the bells, we still aren't as loud as they are. What's the big deal?

The Cowbell Rule is totally about Shug Jordan being an asshole. Nothing more and nothing less.

Yep. There's NO WAY Lil Ol Missippi Tate could beat mighty Auburn without damn cowbells.****

Jeremy Foley had a lot to do with it too after Urban came to town.

I'd rather keep the 100 year old tradition and have the stadium less loud.

I agree. Our fans will never learn you can shake your bell and YELL at the same time.
I love the cowbell but at times I've wanted it banned when I see people just ringing and not yelling.
It's our tradition and our crutch.

Maybe the options on the scoreboard should be:

RING

RING AND YELL

Sadly you don't know how right you are for our fans and society...

The thing that gets me is that a given number of people ringing cowbells isn't as loud on the field as the same number of people yelling due to the way the sound carries. I was on the field (band) in 2009 when Banks pick six'ed Tebow just before halftime, the loudest instance I can remember when I was in that position, and what I heard was predominantly yelling with a faint clatter of the cowbells in the background. Logically, it seems to me that if the SEC/NCAA takes issue with percussive noisemakers, they should take issue with people yelling as well.
