In true MSu fashion, one out away from winning, Texas hits a fly ball for what should have been the final out, but our 2B & RF collide, ball drops & our RF injured. Damn Indians!

Now Texas getting the girl up who beat us with the solo HR in game 1.

She gets a hit. Now we have, I believe, Texas' best hitter up with 2 on.

We are...MSU. Fly ball out away from winning, freak play let's it fall in, then we lose the lead.

My Little League coach always made a big deal to remind us how important it is to say "I got it!"

Texas center-fielder makes a leaping catch in deep center fro out 2. Down to our last out.

Season over. Great year, Lady Dawgs! Proud of you. Tough way to lose, but we are here-to-stay as a softball power, I think.

Thank you Coach Vann!

Not that I'm emotionally invested in women's softball, but I sure hate losing to Texas in anything...

Agreed. Poor communication cost us the game. The second baseman should have pulled off.

It amazes me how often this kind of thing happens at every single level and it's one of those things you constantly go over. You can hit fungo in no man's land for hours (and I have) working on those situations and you still have kids that play infield not peel off when the OF calls it and you still have OFs that don't take charge and come after it. Baffles me how often that happens.

Fundamentals Fundamentals Fundamentals. Its not a charged error. But it is an error. You can't do something like that with the game on the line.
Silkwood is a freshman, she will learn from that. Or maybe Vann does and we have a 3rd pitcher she feels comfortable bringing in for the one out when the other workhouse had already pitched a complete game not a couple hours earlier.

Vann is building the program though. Big series wins in the second half of the sec season. Plus we did win a ncaa regional game today so thats 3 games experience for a lot of players coming back next season.

It hurts, I liked this team a lot. Loved the story of Alison Owen coming from UGA after pitching in the WCWS to help Vann build this program.
Tyler Bratton is doing great with the team and glad that work out for him.

and yes it hurts to lose to the horns, wanted to have something to brag about against the GF's team.

Build them the stadium they were promised or I wouldn't be surprised to see coach Vann hit the road!

I have a friend who was paralyzed on a play like that. Caught a knee to the back of his neck and he's in a wheelchair today. Paralyzed from the neck down since high school.

There are so many reasons for the outfielders to take charge and the infielders to pull off a play like that. All of them happened on that play. Ball falls for a hit anyway, injury and we lose the game.

They'll learn. Good year, but I'm sure they're not satisfied and will be looking to improve next year.

Tough to lose like that. Which player was injured?

Right fielder, Julia Echols.

Sorry to hear that. I think she's a JR so hopefully she'll be back

Yesterday seemingly was just a bad day for MSU sports all the way around. I saw the replay on the Texas 3 run homer but not until reading this thread did I realize we had the play to win the game but screwed it up.
