There are bigger names that report an MSU offer but this is what the likely candidates board looks like to me. Any big disagreements here?

there's an athlete listed as a QB on your list, but other than that, no.

Which one? Ray and Smith are listed as dual threats on 247 and Virgil is listed as pro style (even though that's crazy). We likely offered Ray as an ATH and not a QB but a lot of big schools did that and that's why he committed to ULL. He's such an electric athlete and has such a big arm, he deserves a shot at QB IMO

I don't agree with the Brady Davis ranking. I have seen him in person and trust me this guy is not a SEC QB. I have no idea how he is blowing up but he isn't as good as Minshew or Smith.

I really liked Virgil's video. If he can heavy up some, Mullen can have a lot of fun with him. Good touch on the ball and looked to be the fastest person on the field.

I'm a fan of Tiano's video, too. He's a Fitzgerald that already knows how to throw.

Fwiw it's not really a ranking, just my opinion to where he stands on MSU's board (in my eyes). His offer sheet is good and getting better. I did note that I'm curious to see how he does at Starkville vs better competition. It will effect his stock. Personally, if MSU whiffs on Virgil, Tiano, & Smith, I'd beat down Dion Ray's door and try to flip him from ULL. Before you write off his size, watch his video. He's the best athlete of the group and it ain't close.

I agree with all of that

I think smith is an ATh. His future is somewhere other than QB if he wants to make football a profession.

looking at Johnny Manziel's HS highlights next to Ray's is almost eerily similar

Virgil reminds me of a young Pat White

Think Jmar will be a very good player for someone , hopefully us, but I am just not sure he will play QB. He could be a beast at DB though. And I am not a fan of Minshew.

Guess we'll find out real soon how serious we are about filling a QB spot right now. I hope msu lands him

I don't think Tiano is close to the athlete Fitzgerald is.

Think j.smith is feeling some pressure all of the sudden? If smith waits, Virgil may claim the only qb spot next week

There is an article from al.com from April 10th that says he will commit 5/20. Says considering Clemson, aub, az state. Doesn't mention msu. Is that an old article?

Must be. 247's last 4 predictions all say us.

Rosebowl said this morning that Virgil is higher on our board than Tiano, and we would accept his commitment and be done at QB if Virgil commits to us in the next week.

Nice. That means my board was dead on and I said we likely only take 1 QB.

Yeah, no need to take 2 unless it's an ATH type like J'Mar

So now Virgil is in the boat, does Smith still get a scholly? And would we still take Tiano or anyone else?

That likely spelled doom for Tiano. J'Mar could still be in play as an ATH

I like Tiano but I'm pretty excited the new wrinkles Virgil could add to the system. We're substituting power for speed here.

Much better passer than Marshall.

Bingo. Mullen has had the QB run the read option to the inside and Virgil's speed would allow him to do it to the outside. I like it

Tiano is out now. Glad he took his time to be honest. Smith is still in play as an ATH that could be given a shot at QB imo

We should definitely still go for smith. He has a lot of potential. I would love to have him on board too

I gotta disagree Banker if we are talking about the qb that transferred into Starkville. I watched Davis, Minshew, Smith, at the scrimmage game played last nite at Davis Wade. I was very impressed with the Starkville qb. He's a lanky kid but has good speed and an excellent arm in my opinion.

Well, glad we got Virgil rather than Tiano if he was our higher rated guy. I had wondered if we would still be after Tiano given the Virgil commitment but sounds like we won't be. Makes sense given that next year (when Dak is a SR) we will have 5 QBs on the roster. That is probably the most you would want at one time.

Sr Dak
Jr Damien
So Nicky Fitz
R-Fr Staley
Fr Virgil

I bet Staley demands playing time his RFr year though. Dude is a beast if he can learn to protect himself when carrying the rock.

I am seeing a qb transfer in the next couple of years. I am not saying that is a bad thing at all. We haven't had a qb situation/competition like this in a long time. Fitz and Staley will be pushing themselves and Damien to be the starter after Dak leaves. Then Virgil will be right behind them. Definitely looking good for our qb situation going forward. And not to mention that we lead for that blue-chip 2016 qb.
