SEC winning percentages, along with postseason results. Years we won Hoover are highlighted in yellow.

I think this is an important chart, considering how we have people arguing that this is the worst team they've seen in years. Notice the trajectory of each coach...

That's a good chart that should help put things into perspective.

And for the record, I've only seen one nut who thinks this is "the most pathetic season in 54 years."

Well it has been a very disappointing season so far relative to expactations but we still have a good team. You aren't an above .500 in SEC play team and not be pretty good. Our offense is very bad overall no doubt particularly when playing at home. When you have a team batting average below .275 with little to no power its certainly not a good thing.

We are still a few seasons away from being a really good program in my opinion. When I say that, I am speaking in terms of talent.

I will say this though, Polk had several teams that were loaded top to bottom that ended up having disappointing ends to really good seasons b/c they would lose in a regional to a good pitcher. Polk just sat back and let the hitters swing the bat. If they didn't hit, they didn't hit. No stealing, no hitting and running, no bunting. Nothing.

For all of Cohen's over managing and head scratching decisions, I will take it over Polk's approach, especially when playing a good team.

But all it takes is to get hot and we will win a lot of games, but can we get hot?

I keep up w each signing class. From top to bottom this was first highly rated one. Cohen has to string together a couple. 2015 looks great but he needs to add a couple for next year.

I agree, but let's not forget that OM leads the SEC in team batting average at .299...so .275 isn't too far off pace with the rest of the league. I would say it's more about our lack of timely/situational hitting more than anything, and that can change in an instant.. Which is why I'm not totally giving up on this team's ability to make postseason noise. Our pitching is more than capable, and we play well on the road.. So we just need to hit better with RISP. And your point about power is true as well...we need to be able to find some gaps out there, which is why Collins and Humphreys need to be hitting.

Worst case scenario is to equal the SEC record of the last 2 years. We have a shot at our best SEC season 1997.

Yep. He was willing to sit through Polk's last year and Cohen's first two- but this season was the one that broke the camel's back.
