Scroll down and check out how many 3 stars and under were drafted in the first round compared to 4 and 5 stars.

Arent there only like 25 or 50 five stars a year? So either 20% or 10% of 5 stars that year were drafted in round 1. That is incredible.

What it also tells me is that the 5 stars ole miss and msu sign, we sign them because others passed on them or they are trouble.

seems about right. 5 stars are obviously talented. 3's are often underrated and 4's are talented kids who got recognized and went to the right camps... that are sponsored by the people who make the stars.

How many 3 stars are there? 500? So 3% are drafted first round?

More proof that rankings matter on the whole. But when looking at one or two prospects, they don't. When looking at ONE class, take it for what it's worth. When looking at 5 classes in a row, you can pretty much tell who's going to be good, but it's still hard to tell who isn't, because the bottom guys are always variable.

the percentage is irrelevant outside of looking at five stars. only 32 spots. roughly half filled by 3 stars... who overtook 95% of the 5 stars and 4 stars.

5 stars are obviously good. Outside of that is a crap shoot.

Your point? A bunch of 3* means you need to have the better evaluation and player development than everyone else that's primarily recruiting 3*.

5* have the highest rates of success
Then 4*
Then 3*
Then 2*

Doesn't mean an individual can't be an exception, but i'd rather play the odds. It's like hitting on 19. You might pull a 2, but that doesn't mean it was the odds on bet.

I know Scout rates at least 1000 as 3 stars (and they may have recently increased that), and I am pretty sure all the other services give out way more than 500 as well.

The percentages are not irrelevant outside of the 5 stars. The percentages hold up for every star rating, and not just for the first round......they hold up for the entire draft.
