Former Diamond Dawg great Hunter Renfroe homered & drove in two for Lake Elsinore (Advanced A) last night...now has 7 HR/27 RBI in 32 games

Great to see him doing well!

Sporting a nice .851 OPS. Needs to cut down on the strikeouts, but he is having a nice season so far.

He definitely does need to cut down the strikeouts, but his walk rate has improved quite a bit as he's moved up levels, which is a good sign. It shows he's not up there hacking at everything; he just needs to continue to see professional pitching and learn to wait for his pitch a little better.

The power production and walk rate are right where you want them to be. If he can become a more consistent hitter overall and cut down on the strikeouts as he gets more experience, he's going to be a major league player for a really long time.

His BA is just above .250 but is wOBA is .369. Obviously the question is whether or not he can continue this at higher levels, but he's producing plenty well enough right now at A+.

In a 162 MLB season those stats would put him on pace for 37 HR's and 137 RBI's. I dare say any MLB team would take production at that level. Strikeouts be damned.

I could see Hunter as a slightly better version of Jeff Francouer. Great arm in RF, pop in his bat. Occasionally getting red hot and carrying a team for a couple of weeks, then going ice cold for a few weeks. Ultimately hitting .250 with 20 HR and 15 outfield assists.

Yep, and he also has 9 2B and 2 3B, so he's producing extremely well, which means when he actually does make contact, he's killing the ball. Just make that contact a little more consistently, and he's one of the best prospects in baseball.

I don't think there is any doubt he will move through the organization quickly. Ready to see yet another former Diamond Dawg in the Big Leagues.

I just can't see him hitting .250 in MLB...he should be close to .300 in A-ball. The pitching gets nothing but better from here

He has the talent, he just needs to work with a good hitting coach.

We'll see. He's less seasoned than most college players this soon after the draft, and it's still early in the year. His average could rise as he gets more comfortable with the pitching at that level.

And while most players see a drop in BA once they hit the majors, some don't.
