It's because they are starting a right handed pitcher. If I was an opposing coach, I would only start right handed pitchers against us since it would make Cohen not start our best lineup. This just doesn't make sense to me.

Ya know... by this time you should have 5-7 that are in the lineup regardless of who the heck is pitching except in rare special situations. Put your most successful hitters up there. Wait to start this matchup crap if/when you need to later in the game. Enough already.

And I agree with Todd's premise that you have to play the percentages but the problem is our left handed lineup we are throwing out there is not as good as the right handed lineup we have. Maybe when we recruit better and have everything equal on both sides we could do this but we just aren't there yet so when they start a right hander we start ourselves at a deficit when we do this.

You should NEVER DH your other catcher. I know we have done it a few games this year and its playing with fire. If Randolph was to go down for whatever reason (foul ball off his forearm) we would have to move Collins out of DH and lose the DH for the rest of the game or bring in our #3 catcher whoever that is...

So stats for yesterday the two we put in for this left handed lineup went a combined 0-6 including Brown at the lead off spot while Heck went 2-4. If you had Heck at the lead off in the second game, odds are good we would have put up runs early and it would have been a different game.

If we had gotten to that pitcher in the first few innings, odds are good Mitxhell pitches it differently. I also agree Mitchell didn't pitch well but maybe he puts too much pressure on himself because we don't give him any run support. We didn't score a single run until we were down 5-0.

I can Understand Randolph this game, Collins has caught 6 games in 8 days..
And Yes I would rather have Armstrong in the game over Vick, but its not that big a deal..

I don't know man, that sounds a lot like playing not to lose instead of playing to win. If I have one kid hitting .300ish, and only getting better, he is going to get a hit for me 1:3 times. That does not seem like it balances out with the 1:1000 chance a guy get knocked out of the game. Im not saying you are wrong but I dont buy it. Guess thats why Im not the coach.

Odd thing to me is Cohen seems to be more hung up on having lefties in when a right hander is pitching but is much more willing to leave guys like Detz and Bradford in against lefties. Pretty standard knowledge that in general left handed pitching is tougher on left handed hitters than right handed pitching on right handed hitters. I agree with some others than CT has no clue when trying to bat against a LHP.
