Just watched one off the SEC TV commercials on ESPN and it went through all the statues outside of the football arenas and some basketball. I felt like we were the only program that it didn't show a person and just the bulldog. But if we had to build a football statue of someone tomorrow then who would you nominate?

My serious answer would be Allyn McKeen

If we had a statue it would not be in football it would be Polk in baseball or Varnado or Bailey Howell in basketball.

Maybe with the renovation we can put a Ron Polk statue in front of Dudy Noble Field at Farm Bureau Stadium.

If its an athlete it should be Bailey Howell hands down. If its a coach I think we should have one of Allyn McKeen and Babe McCarthy. I would probably go Polk in baseball third. What McKeen and McCarthy accomplished over their tenures was pretty amazing. Polk had the much longer tenure but never had an SEC title past 89 and we've already been further in post-season under Cohen than we ever got with Polk. I truly believe Babe McCarthy would have won a national title with one of his teams had they been allowed to participate in the NCAA tourneys.

An all-time shot block leader statue for Varnado would be good. Maybe do one or even two statues at each entry way into the Hump/Mize. Varnado, Howell, whoever... Spit-balling here.

I get that this is a running joke, but why do people get upset about the Farm Bureau ads?

We don't honor our former coaches. They all leave here as the worst person on the planet.

If we were smart and payed "someone's Dad" $180,000 this would be a no brainer. CAM NEWTON

This is something I've thought a lot about. It has to be Cristil. We have no business having as diehard fans as we do and there is an even bigger question as to why we are so connected through our generations. He represents a big part of it. When we dedicated a piece of a highway to him I thought it was a joke. Bronze statue the man already.

They could easily make a statue of that picture of Clark and Palmeiro, although that might be lackluster now.

McCarthy should get one too. Probably the most important name in association with MSU athletics. Right up there with Polk and Sherrill without the shitty parts.

I'm more proud of us participating in the NCAA tourny that year than anything else we've accomplished or could accomplish going forward. Perhaps a statue highlighting the size of his balls.

Really the only successful coach we've had that I have a bad taste in my mouth on is Polk. And that's because of his public ego display that HE was more important than the university and that is was HIS baseball program more than it was MSU's program. Sorry, but that is just an unacceptable attitude for me. I very much appreciate all that Sherrill did for our football program and would tell him that if I saw him. Modern day MSU football is what it is because of Jackie Wayne Sherrill. I also very much appreciate the accomplishments of Richard Williams and Rick Stansbury as well. Those 2 guys revived what was a once proud program under McCarthy but had really sort of hit the skids for a few decades.

There should be a gold statue of Jackie Sherrill outside the stadium and when Jack Cristil passes away he should be buried at the 50.

My possibles: Jackie Wayne, Keffer McGee, Kent Hull,

Jack Cristil should have a statue on campus somewhere, but not close to the arenas in my opinion. Maybe outside the new football complex?

Why not name the press box "Jack Cristil Press Box"?

I like using a player. I would do something to memorialize all the good RBs over the last 25 years. Bronze plaques or hand prints in cement to go along the theme of Running Back U. We've had some good ones whether they played on good or bad teams. I like that identity as well...good for recruiting, etc.
