In 2009 we signed a $3 million deal with Adidas which was worth $600,000 per year for five years and included only gear and equipment.

For the 2014-2015 season (which would have been the last year of the 2009 deal), and the six years thereafter, we will receive a total of $2.5 million from Adidas in gear, equipment, as well as cash. Even if we decide to double our use of equipment and gear, we'll be getting at least a $1.3 million check from Adidas each year.

Compared with SEC teams for which I could find data:

2014-2015 (in milllions)
Team Vendor Gear Cash Total
LSU Nike $3.10 $1.00 $4.10
Florida Nike $2.09 $1.84 $3.92
Bama Nike $2.70 $0.75 $3.45
UK Nike $1.60 $1.80 $3.40
USC UA $1.90 $1.05 $2.95
State Adidas $- $- $2.50
Georgia Nike $1.77 $0.60 $2.37
Mizzou Nike $2.20 $0.15 $2.35
Miss Nike $2.05 $- $2.05

Ole Miss Numbers from this article (http://sports.yahoo.com/olemiss/blog/rebels/post/more-details-on-ole-miss-partnership-extension-with-nike?urn=college,wp288):

The current deal, which is set to expire June 30, 2012, is worth $750,000 annually. The new deal will be for $1.6 million the first year and $2.05 million each year during the rest of the contract. In short, the deal is worth approximately $1.2 million more than the current contract each year.

Worth $2.05 million for 2014-2015 and does not say that it includes any cash.

Good job. That shows Scott really did do a great job.

From that list, only Tennessee, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Auburn, and Vanderbilt are missing.

There is no way Arkansas or Vanderbilt are above us and I would wager we are above Tennessee as well. I read that Auburn has a deal around $2.0 million per year (but it was signed back in 2005, can't find anything more recent). We may very well be in the top half of the SEC (#7). Engie was right -- we'll be a $100 million athletic department before long.

Auburn signed a 7 year 27. 45 with under Armour in 2010. Rumors say they are looking for someone else when that ends if not before. http://m.oanow.com/sports/college/auburn/basketball/men/article_fd4574c0-ad81-11e3-9403-001a4bcf6878.html?mode=jqm

I would guess that most SEC schools are in the same ballpark because we all play on TV every game.

Sure.. What's a million or two per year difference. Being on TV doesn't have much to do with anything here. It's more about how many people see that team and how much they buy.
We are getting a lot better and this showed it but we are not Bama, uf , LSU, Auburn or Kentucky.

The last ole miss deal was they got X amount of gear at RETAIL. So that's not a great deal at all. It might have changed at this point don't know

I would guess we would get a better deal than Ole Miss because I honestly think we mean more to Adidas than Ole Miss means to Nike. Now if Ole Miss was Adidas, then we would be very close.

If a school doesn't spend all of their Gear money do they get to keep the extra not spent? Trying to figure out how LSU spends $3.1 million dollars a year on gear when they basically wear the same football uniform every single game. Is LSU just buying a shit ton of non-uniform apparel to spend that allotted amount so they don't lose it? Does their golf team have 100 different golf shirts? Questions. Lots of questions.

We got fair market value this time -- which is all I really wanted from it...

In 5-6 years when we're renegotiating again, we should climb the latter considerably again...

And you have to think that we've made Adidas some money over the last five years too. Now that we aren't the suck anymore, our brand has exploded in a lot of ways. More and more kids who are just getting into football are choosing to be State fans now because we haven't sucked for most of their lifetime like we did with people in their twenties and thirties. That increased interest means increased sales.
