But can ross go both games tomorrow? Say he pitches game 1 and throws 95 pitches. Can he go another 50 for game 2? It is only 30 mins later.

We have a friggin shark with a friggin laser beam. We should ride it until it is empty.

I'm pretty sure he can lob Cannon balls all day and be fine.

I'm all for this idea. Let him start 2 of the 3 games. It'll give us an idea if he can do this in the postseason. Ross can go innings like a softball pitcher.

Have they announced a double header for tomorrow already, or are you assuming that they will due to weather? I'm watching the weather with great interest because I'm planning to take my son to the game tomorrow night.

I would not be in favor of him throwing 150 pitches. He may not exert nearly as much effort as the average pitcher, but it's still an unnatural motion, and I don't want to screw him over. If he went down, it would pretty much end our season.

He threw almost 140 in a complete game earlier this year.

I'd be perfectly fine with using him in back to back games. However, 130-140 pitches would be about the max I would want to stretch him. He is just too important.

It is my understanding that a double header Saturday would be a preemptive one like we did in Athens. Friday's forecast doesn't look too bad but Saturday night and Sunday look like rain. So Mitchell would pitch Friday in Game 1, then Game 2 and 3 would be Sat.

This.....that's too much for any pitcher...for numerous reasons

At Tennessee, in the mid 1990's, Rod DelMonico threw RA Dickey regularly in the 135-160 pitch count range, he's still playing today. Some guys just have a rubber arm, Ross is one of them.

I don't know if he could or not, but Butch Thompson would never let that happen. So, it's kind of a moot point.

Ross throws it like 82 mph. And his mechanics put zero stress on his arm. Plus the more he throws the better rhythm he gets into. Ross on throw 100 is better than Ross on throw 20. He could throw 300 pitches and be ready to throw 301 without blinking an eye.

Seems like too big of a risk to me. Risk-reward analysis does not favor this approach. Beyond that, is wouldn't be a great message to send to our other pitchers. Talk about a vote of, "no confidence".

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but is there not a fairly long delay between games of a double-header? If so, that would not be a good thing, much as a starting pitcher in a long rain-delay is often not the one used again when the game resumes. There's a window for pitchers when their arm is ready. Before and after is not good.

Is it a forgone conclusion that we aren't playing tonight?

I think we'll play, the rain has moved out, so unless the field didn't handle the rain well, they should get the game in tonight.

Dickey also had a missing UCL in his right arm and had to convert to a knuckleball pitcher to save his career.

I don't think they can with the tv commitments to broacast all three games ( CSS, ESPNU and CST).

Incorrect. tv just moves their time or loses the game. weather trumps tv.
