Really seems to be back this year. He's only got one hit (double), but he's hitting lasers and no k's. Early, but good signs

Then a nice defensive play

I agree, he looks good.

And Heyward is going to have a monster year. Which will be awesome for us, then terrible for us.

He had lasik eye surgery in the off-season and he's closed his stance a little. He's always had a ton of power and a good OBP%. If he can just bat like .250 he'd be a very productive 2B.

They need to find someone who can get on base in front of Freeman. Upton in the 2-hole isn't going to cut it unless he suddenly wakes up tomorrow morning and decides to start playing to his potential.

He'd be better off if he woke up tomorrow and started hitting left-handed. That or choked up 4" on the bat and just slapped at everything. His swing is way way too long.

His swing isn't too long. In fact his swing isn't long at all. The problem is that he has too much goin on to start his swing. His foot twitch he does has the same affect as not getting your foot down early enough. Combine that with his hand hitch before he starts his bat and what you have are a lot of things that have to be in sync and have to happen just right for him to be successful. None of which has happened since arriving in Atlanta.

We found someone last year - Justin Upton. Why we decided to mess with that when it was working extremely well last year is a mystery to me. No, Heyward isn't what you think of when you think of the traditional lead-off hitter, and Justin Upton isn't your traditional 2-hole hitter...but they are our best options for those roles. Both get on base well and can run. Those two and Freeman are our best hitters, they should be hitting 1-3.

Seems long to me and the bat he wields seems too big/heavy as well. He also stands up too straight in his stance. Needs to get lower to reduce his strike zone and be a contact/slap hitter. He should get fined $10,000 for every homerun he hits till his average is .300 imo because he should NEVER be swinging for the fences. He should be using his speed to get on as that's his best weapon yet he seems bound and determined to try and be a power hitter. Good defender with great speed. Awful hitter. They should trade him for a SP.

No love for Chris Johnson? The guy only damn near won the NL batting title last season. But **** that, he's not even one of the top 3 hitters on our team.**

Bingo. He's got wayyyyy too many "moving parts" in his swing. All the hype during spring training was how he'd worked to simplify his swing during the offseason and eliminate some of the moving parts. He supposedly looked better, but he's clearly back to his bad habits these first 2 games.
