View Full Version : Super excited to hear Coach O tonight.

I know he used to coach the bears but I'd be a liar if I told you I wasn't excited to hear him speak tonight. He's a full blown "player's coach" and I (in my playing days) would've LOVED to play for him. Just not necessarily at UM.

I just hope you can understand him.

I feel sorry for the ASL(American Sign Language) translator if he's required to translate.

Here's the minutes from his last speaking engagement...

Coach Orgeron: "Yayaya ya Yayaya yaya ya ya yayayayaya yaya Yaya. Yayaya Foobaw Yayaya Yayaya ya. Tank u. Ya."

Something I didn't realize, but John Hevesy and Ed Orgeron were on the same Syracuse staff in 1997, and Ed and Dan Mullen missed being on the same staff by one year. Dan was a GA at Syracuse in 1998, and Ed Orgeron had left Syracuse after the 1997 season.

I think he was a recruit's coach. Once he got them on campus, word was that players hated him.

that may have been the case at OM but it wasn't at USC. the players at SC loved him.

Where is Coach O now? What staff did he land on? I am sure he landed on his feet somewhere. Great DLine coach and recruiting coordinator.

You are right, he must have changed his ways. When he came to olemiss, I remember them asking his d line players at usc about him and one went as far to say that he was glad orgeron was gone.

He did... I read an article where he admitted he had made a lot of mistakes at Ole Miss and basically did everything opposite at USC

I do have to say the Coach O Sling Blade Press conference made me laugh pretty hard.

I'm really surprised that he isn't coaching somewhere. I figured he would be a perfect fit for a school like Florida Atlantic. Kinda thought somebody could get him late as a DC if he didn't have a HC job.

I think he is desirable, but he wants too much money. He needs to lower his asking price.

Right now he's just chillin' in south Louisiana. He'll land somewhere, probably in the near future. ULL would be the perfect place for him if, and when, Hud leaves for greener pastures.

I saw on twitter where he was at our practice while we were doing Oklahoma drills. It was a little bit weird seeing him at one of our practices to say the least.

Did he participate in the OK drill?

I don't know why people think he's suddenly a much better coach. He's always been a great position coach/recruiter. He had success for a short period of time at USC, but it's not extremely rare to see a HC being taken away and then see someone with a totally different style take over and have success.

I'm sure it was almost like a breath of fresh air, sigh of relief, whatever you want to call it for the USC players the second half of last year. And they already had plenty of talent, they were just playing loose.

That can work for a short burst, but I don't think that style plays well over time.

Sometimes you can over promote people. Not just in sports, in business and such.

Coach O is one of those people. I'd love to have him as a position coach/coordinator, but never as a head coach.

A guy I used to work with was an awesome network engineer. The guy you called when there was a problem and upper management loved him. A management position came open and they hired him (thus taking him out of the field) and it was awful. Almost had mutiny in his department before they shifted things around.

Can you imagine what what happen if Collins left this year and we hired O?
