He is out but that doesnt mean that is how you play the play. Have you ever played baseball?

Yes he has, on xbox. That's apparent.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 03:50 PM
Exactly, that guy was going back to second. Pirtle catches that ball the run down is started and the guy is out. Pirtle fumbling the ball allowed at least 4-5 extra seconds there which made it easy to get to third. But let's not argue this it's very stupid.

Nice k!

One more out. We aint out of this yet

Esmerelda Villalobos
03-23-2014, 03:52 PM
Id walk him here. No need to give him a pitch to hit

msstate7
03-23-2014, 03:52 PM
2 out of 3 aint bad.

Esmerelda Villalobos
03-23-2014, 03:53 PM
shit heck. Heck with a terrible throw. They score

MarketingBully01

Unreal. Lindgren gets such shitty luck

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 03:54 PM
Do they just not like Lindgren? Their defense behind him sucks.

msstate7
03-23-2014, 03:54 PM
I've got no confidence in our catchers.

maroonmania
03-23-2014, 03:54 PM
Damn, damn, damn. That's probably the ball game there fellas. Love Heck but that was a throw that has to be made.

WeWonItAll(Most)
03-23-2014, 03:54 PM
This pitcher is really really good. It's gonna be tough getting even 1 off him

Let alone 3

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 03:55 PM
Wow...

Esmerelda Villalobos
03-23-2014, 03:55 PM
Another passed ball. Another run. Game should be 1-0.

We cant score 3 on this guy though

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 03:55 PM
Collins has sucked ass today. 2 of those 3 runs are on him.

Will James
03-23-2014, 03:55 PM
Do they just not like Lindgren? Their defense behind him sucks.

Probably not on they toes because they are expecting a strikeout every hitter

starkvegasdawg
03-23-2014, 03:56 PM
Like meatloaf said...two out of three ain't bad.

Vandelaydawg
03-23-2014, 03:56 PM
You would have brought in someone else?

Which I guess is also not of relevance for you.

CadaverDawg
03-23-2014, 03:57 PM
I feel bad for Lindgren. They haven't hit anything hard off of him, yet his defense let him down on 3-4 plays.

Esmerelda Villalobos
03-23-2014, 03:57 PM
Collins has our only hits and gunned a runner for a dp.

He has made mistakes though. That is his downfall for now. Randolph is better catching the ball

He had already made a break for 3rd when Lindgren let go of the ball.

And Will, how about we leave the ad hominem, unintelligent crap out of this? But of course, I know that's impossible for you. You're the type who I can't stand to be in a discussion with, even when I agree with you.

You run at the runner there. Period.

msstate7

This game was lost when detz was unable to get the runner home from third. All our momentum came to a screaming halt

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 03:58 PM
Definitely not on their toes more like playing Johnny Grabass. Our score keeper gift wrapped a hit for them. Heck should have had two errors this inning.

He's probably just unlucky. I blame Ross

Cody Walker should get a chance.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 03:59 PM

Homedawg

No question he could have caught it. That's stings. Lindgren deserves way better. Threw well.

Britton leadoff walk

Hecks throw may come back to haunt us

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:01 PM
Collins needs to get another double here to make up for giving up the two runs.

Will James
03-23-2014, 04:02 PM
He was safe but holy shit we need baserunners not stolen bases.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:03 PM
Yes, because Rea should catch everything thrown at him even if that was a throw that a 6'7" first baseman could catch.

Esmerelda Villalobos
03-23-2014, 04:03 PM
Terrible strike call. What the hell?

Will James
03-23-2014, 04:03 PM
Ball hit Reas glove. Has to be caught. He's done that a million times before.

Esmerelda Villalobos
03-23-2014, 04:04 PM

messageboardsuperhero
03-23-2014, 04:04 PM

Bull shit, he was heading back to second but I guess the video replay was wrong when it showed him going back to second.

He took a first step back to second, then broke for third as Lindgren began his throwing motion. By the time Pirtle missed it, he was clearly well on his way to 3rd. It's not like he waited until Pirtle dropped it to go to 3rd.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:07 PM
Yeah, against Missouri at home. Very big accomplishment. Worst team in the league. Meantime, we took 2 out of 3 from the #3 team in the country.

Lets stop arguing about it. If pirtle makes the catch, he is prob out. The correct way to play the play is to run at the runner. Lindgren wouldve prob thrown it in the stands

Either way it doesnt matter

That bullshit strikeout cost us a run. Should be 3-2.

Actually, we should be up 2-1

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:11 PM
And they lost a series and won a series. We have won two series and should win next weekend with 2 wins possibly 3.

CadaverDawg
03-23-2014, 04:11 PM
Wes's approach is like a lead off hitter. Sometimes that's a good thing, but sometimes I wish he would get up there and take some damn hacks

messageboardsuperhero
03-23-2014, 04:12 PM
UM must have been praying to the baseball gods all offseason- literally almost half of their wins have been by 1-run or walk offs.

ETA: Just checked, and assuming they hold on today, 9 of their 21 wins have been by 1 run. That's unreal.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:14 PM
Yeah, he just waits around. If he was more aggressive, I swear he would have at least 3-4 HRs. He has let some balls go by that he could have sent into the seats easily.

Who is our score keeper? We should have at least 3-4 more errors that I could see but the score keeper calls them hits???

bully99
03-23-2014, 04:16 PM
And the bears have won a lot of games late. I've seen them a few times and they have a pretty good team.

He was within 30 feet of 3rd when the ball got to Pirtle. It was going to be a close play even if Pirtle catches it.

But I agree, we should drop it. It doesn't ultimately matter and we know where the other stands.

starkvegasdawg
03-23-2014, 04:16 PM
Our official scorer doesn't have a clue on what's a hit or an error.

starkvegasdawg
03-23-2014, 04:17 PM
Our defense has gone to hell today.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:18 PM
Man, we are so lax today. Thank goodness this defense didn't show up until after we won the series.

Homedawg
03-23-2014, 04:18 PM
That should be the second error of the inning. Pirtle's was an error as well

Will James
03-23-2014, 04:18 PM
Why did Lindgren not pitch this inning? What the **** is going on

messageboardsuperhero

CadaverDawg

LOL, you gotta be shitting me. We didn't give a shit about a sweep today.

starkvegasdawg
03-23-2014, 04:20 PM
Is there anything else we can do wrong this inning?

messageboardsuperhero

I don't think so either. They are 9-1 in 1 run games. That's just not something you can count on over the course of a season.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:21 PM
Agreed, Cadaver. This is not on pitching at all. This is on Heck, Britton, Pirtle, and Collins. All those guys were the ones that gave them 5 runs today.

msstate7
03-23-2014, 04:21 PM
I'm happy about winning the series, but this is an awful way to finish this series

MarketingBully01

Agreed, this was shit by our defense and a weekend that was a huge accomplishment put a damper on it.

blacklistedbully
03-23-2014, 04:23 PM
Assuming Ole Miss goes on to win today, only 4 of their 21 wins will have come versus teams with a winning record.

MarketingBully01

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:27 PM
I'll take that..

WeWonItAll(Most)
03-23-2014, 04:28 PM
Yeah, he just waits around. If he was more aggressive, I swear he would have at least 3-4 HRs. He has let some balls go by that he could have sent into the seats easily.

I feel like he isn't making any effort on defense either. Just enough to get by. He always pulls his foot off the base right as he's catching the ball, on Hecks throwing error it didn't look like he made much effort to go up and get it, and on Pirtles diving play and throw it looked like he could have stayed on the base pretty easy but came off and tried to tag him instead

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:28 PM
Now let's put a rally together and not go down 1-2-3.

Goodness, just wish I could have seen what would have happened in this game if Heck had made the simple throw to 1st base in the top of the 8th that would have kept the game at 1-0.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:30 PM
I think Rea is one of our best defensive first basemen we have had at MSU who has made 99% of the plays that go his way. If we had a normal sized first baseman, we would have a billion errors from that infield. Rea is the glue to our infield.

MarketingBully01
03-23-2014, 04:34 PM
Sure, Rea had that ball hit off his mit that Heck threw but it would have been a SC play of the day nominee if he makes that catch. Heck was throwing to a 7 footer. If we had a normal sized first baseman, that ball goes into the dugout. But somehow that was Rea's fault?

MarketingBully01

Btw, that throw by Heck was what I would call a Frost special which I am sure Rea is probably glad graduated.

It hit his glove and he didn't jump...so he could have caught it. And if he stretches on Pirtles throw, he doesn't have to attempt a tag. Not saying Rea sucks...just saying he left a few plays on the field today. We need him to play like Rea can play. Don't get so defensive...nobody is blaming Rea for losing or anything.

I think Rea could have gotten the ball by jumping but if he does that then the runner at first is likely safe and the run scores anyway. I think Rea was trying to stretch and make sure to get the out to save the run.

Again, nobody is saying Heck made a good throw. But if you wanna sweep #3, you gotta make a few great plays...and I think Rea could have made a few today, and he typically has in the past. I'm not claiming anyone sucks or it's anyone's fault. Hell, I'm pumped we won 2. Just feel like we handed that one to them today

I agree Cadaver. We did hand that game to them and everyone on the infield made at least one gaffe so it was a team effort to give them that one.

It didn't look like he extended as high as he could to me, it looked like he was trying to make the catch while coming off the bag like he does on literally every catch he makes at first. He is a really good first baseman, but watching him play, he seems like he is always right on the edge of everything. How hard he runs, how quickly he comes off the base when he catches one at first, how quickly he flips his bat through the across the plate and behind him when he walks.
