Are you on a municipal system, community water association, private well?

Being on a municipal water distribution system I don't know of anything other than installing one of the softening systems you mentioned. I have not had experience with those so I can't comment on their effectiveness.

not a lot you can do, but that crap will leave residue in your sinks and tubs and may even stain them over time. might be worth the system if it's that bad. I think my father in law may have one. it's like silk coming out of the shower head at his house. almost weird it's so soft. I'll ask and let you know.

Thanks. It is becoming a problem. I have to keep vodka and vinegar in the shower to put in my hair. If I dont, the mineral build up in my hair makes it greasy. I mean like you step out of the shower and your hair looks like it hasnt been washed in 5 days.

Flip side is my yard loves hard water. Ill sacrafice my grass for my sanity, appliances and build up everywhere.
