4000 yards is a stretch

Probably just trying to hype Dak as much as possible so when he doesn't reach the lofty expectations set up he can blame Mullen and put Mullen back on the hot seat because of it.

3200 passing and 800 rushing are doable. BUT, as Sallee alluded to in the article, if things go right against UAB, South Alabama, and USM will Dak even play much in those 4th quarters.

On that note, of a 4000 yard season would you rather something like 3200/800 or 2800/1200?

For the sake of Dak's health and the unknowns behind him id like to see the bigger passing #s

I think 1000 yards rushing is the floor.

I could see him post a 3000/1000 mark if everything goes well and he stays healthy.

Let's not forget if those games you mention do get out if hand, it's most likely the result of Dak lighting them up early. No difference in him putting up 400 early yards or 400 yards in an entire game against Auburn. They all count.

I doubt Dak gets 3,000 yards passing this year. I just don't think we'll throw it quite that much.

I definitely think he will get 1,000 yards rushing...easily.

If you extrapolate his throws last year into a "full time starter" role, he would have had over 2500 -- and that's with what was an early slow start to his passing game, as well as countless drops by young receivers.

IMO he easily puts up over 4000 if Mullen allows him to get the style points in blowouts that he allowed Alex Smith and Tim Tebow. Dak took between 60-65% of our total snaps last year. Both of those guys took 95% of the snaps in their best years.

Alot of good comparisons to Tebow's Heisman year(07) that show the exact blueprint Dak has to follow in order to get to go to New York. Won't even look at the running side. That's there. It's the passing that will either push him over the top or hold him back.

Tebow threw 350 passes -- his yards per completion were 14.04(9.4YPA) -- completion percentage was 66.9%
Dak threw 267(extrapolates to 347 as fulltime starter) -- YPC was 12.44(7.3YPA) -- completion percentage was 58.4%

Dak needs to increase completion percentage 6-7%(which raises his YPA itself), get an extra yard and a half average out of his throws(which I expect given the increased experience and talent at receiver), but the biggest thing -- he's got to more than double his passing TD production -- which means we've got to have a homerun threat at the position instead of a bunch of possession guys. That's the one I have trouble seeing....

Tubby was open deep a bunch late in the season. Just missed seeing him. Hopefully we capitalize on those opportunities this year.

if we run Dak 15+ times a game we need to have our heads examined. And if we don't hell have to average more than 6 yards per carry. That seems a little high considering a lot of his runs will be on 3rd and short. Expecting 1,000 may be too much. If say 800 comfortably. Anything past that is cheddar.
