What do you guys prefer?

I bought some Vudu shrimp from Egret Baits. Thinking about buying a few Bayou Chub and Wedgetails. Are those two made from the same material as the Vudu shrimp? Are they just as durable?

I also bought some Vortex Shad from Matrix Shad. All three colors. It seems that a lot of Mississippi and Louisiana fishermen have been killing it with this bait.

What do you all think about DOA Lures? They seem to be very popular also.

Are there any others that you guys recommend?

All of those are good. I also use the Storm 3"-4" swim baits quite a bit also. They are already weighted so they are quick. Just tie on and chunk.

For artificial shrimp I'd say Vudu was a great choice. Academy also has a knock-off called mojo shrimp that look about the same. DOA shrimp has long been a producer. Any are good.

As far as swim baits, matrix and vortex shad are the hottest two out right now. I also have plenty of h&h cockahos and various other brands as well.

Any of the gulp line are popular also.

Another long-time staple are sparkle beetles. Good to rig under a popping cork or jig the bottom. They don't get the love of the others but are an old-timers favorite in south LA.

End of the day, I wouldn't panic about getting the magic baits. If you find the fish and they are biting, any bait mentioned will work.

I love the matrix & vortex shads. They are extremely durable & have great action. Pretty much the only soft plastics that I buy anymore. The shrimp creole and UV did quite well for me last year.

As far as shrimp lures, the DOA's are hard to beat free-lined or under a popping cork. I have a few of the vudu shrimp, but honestly don't use those or DOA's very often. I've never fished the other egret products, but I don't believe they are the same material.

Some of the good ole h&h cocoahoe patterns are good too. I like the salt&pepper w/chartreuse tail.

I'm pretty sure you are right. The other swim baits are a different material. The material of a vudu probably wouldn't create much action.

Another product you can use to spice up your soft plastics is pro-cure super gel. Some folks love it and others say it's unnecessary. I say anything to get ahead... http://pro-cure.com/store/bait-scent-products/scents/super-gels/shrimp-super-gel.html It wouldn't be needed for the gulp baits b/c they are already scented but couldn't hurt the others

Many a trout been fooled by those little dudes.

Just came to post that exact statement. Like BM said, when you find them and they are feeding most any of them will work.
