I predict every person on this roster whose number starts with an 8 will have a better year this season than they did in the previous one.

I noticed that they use OL (not C, OG, or OT), and DB (not CB or S), and DL (not DE or DT). That's Mullen not wanting to tip his hand, and also knowing that guys will get tried different places. I love seeing Nick James down to 325. He doesn't need to be 340.

He's a relatively lean and muscular 325, too. His calves are ridiculous.

Nick James as a Sophomore is awesome too. Can you imagine James + Jones the next two years if James plays like we all know he can?

our front 7 could be about as disgusting as it's ever been.

How about Quadry Antoine at 5-10, 225 pounds.........that is a stout SOB right there.

Looks like we've added two walk-on kickers. Good to know Mullen is giving himself some options to address that situation.

Hmm, also looks like Sobiesk is no longer with us.

Sobiesk is listed...

Sobiesk is still on the roster. I'd expect him to be the #1 K going into spring.

Ah, missed that somehow. I'm going to go get another cup of coffee now.

I'll have an OL report Friday....well, considering all the partying we'll be doing after - make that Sunday night

I do have a couple of questions...

I thought Harrison and Bohanna were done? Bohanna via concussion and Harrison via graduation? By my count, we've currently got 71-73 scholarship players for the spring if that roster is to be believed -- with 19-20 likely to get in this summer(1 greyshirt and 1 almost sure nonqualifier). Gonna have to see some real attrition and/or placements between now and August to make that 85 number...

both are done. there will be, i believe 3 at least, that will go juco route. and i believe at least one gray shirt. that puts us right at or under the cap of 85.

I'm not counting the greyshirt -- and I'm counting Pierce toward JUCO. We're still way over 85 at that point...

If those 2 are done and the roster is incorrect, that puts us at 70 returning scholarship players by my count(incl the 2 EEs from the 14 class).
We've got 22 signees(not incl the 2 EEs). One greyshirt. One that isn't going to make it and be placed. That's 20. Then, you've got 2-3 more that are borderline and may/may not make it.

We're going to need attrition of at 2-5 on the current roster to make 85...

Durr still may have to go JUCO

Durr still may have to go JUCO

Even if he does -- that leaves us at 89 my by count.

We might have a few guys that if they want to stay on the team, they'll have to walk-on. I know Croom had to do that one year and some guys that were on scholarship stayed on the team anyway.

Who are the guys not expected to qualify besides Pierce and Durr? Any surprises?
(I know both still have a chance but not highly likely)

It's not the size of the picture that counts but how you use it.

I personally know of one other, but I'm not going to say a name.

Note that Hughes is listed as a senior and Malone as a junior. Many think they get a redshirt for last year. You can only redshirt once and both redshirted their first year on campus. Therefore last year does count as a year of eligibility and cannot be a redshirt year. After their eligibility is complete they can apply for a 6th year, which they should get. So Hughes will truly be a senior this year, but could play 2 more years if he wants to apply for the 6th year. Malone is a junior, but could potentially play 3 more years.
