I know the bats help that...and he doesnt have the overall talent of a Proffit, Dubose, or Brantley....but he is about to be 19-1 in his career with a 1.74 ERA

He is a full-blooded pitcher. His placement, control, changing speeds is like a Maddux- just slightly less talent. It's just great to watch.

It's fun to watch him slang it. It's also fun to watch batters get frustrated with him.

Hopefully coach will let him finish this one out. He doesn't look like he's working hard at all.

Mitchell can pitch forever. He puts zero stress on his arm. Mitchell looks as sharp on his 130th pitch as he does on his first.

Asked Aaron Craft what his thoughts on Ross were. Here is what he said:

Aaron Fitt
@aaronfitt
@weather_redneck He's so reliable—always know what you're gonna get from him.

Then I asked if him starting will help his draft stock. His reply:

Aaron Fitt
@aaronfitt
@weather_redneck Probably doesn't affect it—he's already proven he can pitch extended innings. He doesn't have stuff to be a big draft guy.

Ross wont make it in pro ball because he lacks about 4-5 more mph he needs to get those guys out regularly. He is just a helluva college pitcher- and there is nothing wrong with that

Jamie Moyer got it done.

I disagree.. I think Moyer proves it can be done.. Now im not saying he's a lock for an MLB team but I do think he atleast has a shot.

Jamie Moyer is a great comparison for Ross.. I just hope that Ross' game translates into the bigs.

Jamie Moyer threw close to 90 when he was in his 20's

He's at least got a chance. At times Tommy John had his fastball clocked at 76 MPH.

Ross is the best ever. Ive watched or listened to almost every game since 89.

Brantley had a great year but ross has never been touched

At this point I'm not putting anything past Ross Mitchell. If he keeps this up he needs to have his jersey retired or get a statue or something. Varnado needs it for basketball too imo.

Sadly, MLB places a lot of emphasis on what the radar gun tells them. But I think someone will sign or possibly even draft Ross after his senior year. Ross has some connections to MLB through his Dad and his uncle and that will help him at least get a shot.
