RR has been relentless, and it seems to have paid off. I have been told that we are in the game ST THIS TIME! 2 months ago, not even a chance, now, we are somehow in the game.

Glad to hear that. Ray is going to have to force attrition to fit him. Something I've been saying all year that we need to do for next year. Yet skip to next year and Ray is already planning to do this somehow. Hmmm. So why's that ok next year but not this? We have 12 players lined up for next year. Two are seniors, Bloodman and Roq. Then we have 3 commits already, Brown, Strugg and Scott. That makes 13 for 15-16. To add Newman, Ray will have to send someone packing. Newman is a player you do that for no doubt. But y'all can go ahead and quit with the crying about cutting players. Ray ain't above that. He's been planning to have to do exactly that for two years when Newman makes his decision. Guess we've got our answer about a 13th scholarship player for next year too. That'd mean Ray would have to kick two to the curb to fit Newman and the 13th player for next year. Whose Ray cutting to add Newman? I'm ALL FOR THIS btw. Guess Ray selectively is too.

Thick, about all I can say is that you are correct. I have been told by someone very close to Horatio and Malik that State is in extremely good shape here.....maybe sooner than later.

We shall see.

NO! We have been told by some on here that Kentucky has made the offer and we will not play the game. We are just recruiting him for show so we can backdoor on Troutman.

As Thick said- we weren't in it. I'm glad to see us go with a new approach

I have no idea whether we truly can get Newman or not. I have no inside knowledge.

The only thing I do know is that this lineup gives me a boner:

Ready (Jr)
Newman (Fr)
Sword (Sr)
Thomas (Sr)
Daniels (Sr)
Ware (Sr)

Ndoye (So)
Houston (So)
Black (So)
T. Brown (Fr)
Scott (Fr)
Dunlap (So)

I realize that's 6 starters, but I really don't know how we would shift that lineup around. Maybe start Newman at PG? But I think Ready will be a great PG by that point.

He might graduate early so he would be in 2014. We aren't cutting anyone.

I know we are not even there yet (we just need to get decent before your "boner year" to get more than 1000 fans in the stands), but what are we going to do when your 4 listed seniors graduate and Newman is playing for KY or LSU (yes, I heard they are in the game$)? That leaves you Black and Dunlap, who a known local college coach said are SWAC players, along with a 5'9" pt guard and others. You will need Viagra after this year.

Haha we'll be ok.

Ready - Sr
Scott - So
Houston - Jr
Black - Jr
Ndoye - Jr

And that's assuming we don't recruit someone better. I don't know who is claiming our guys are SWAC players, but let's just wait and see. I think all those guys have upside.

NO. It's called reclassifying. He would go to college a year early. He would be in the class of 2014.

You stated it clearly the first time. You are just talking to a brick wall.

IF he happened to sign with MSU and do this, it would mean that he would have to stay in college for 2 years -- meaning he'd be here for Ware, Thomas, and Sword's JR and SR years...

Starting to make sense why we haven't offered Troutman just yet...

Harrydawg

Another factor to think about.....just for fun. Could Horatio and family be concerned about Callaway loosing it accreditation which would be another reason for Malik to leave early and go ahead and play at the college level? Hmm

Isn't it a bit late to decide to graduate high school a year early? Does he happen to have every single credit in order already? Or maybe all but English IV, which he could take over the summer and then enroll in college in August?

I take "enrolling early" to mean he'll have to knock out several classes in summer school and show up in August. I know he's stayed ahead of his books though, so who knows? Would be a TOTAL frigging coup if we could pull this off period. Especially as an EE that stays for 2 years. If it's a legit possibility, we need to delete this thread and keep it to ourselves till it happens...

It's really easy to deal with the morons around here. Unfortunately, you still have to see their ridiculousness in quoted posts. I'd give anything for an "in reply to" tab to make the quite function so much less prevalent...

I don't know what this means. We have an open scholly for Newman. If you are referring to 2015-2016, we are losing Roc and Bloodman and signing 3. We will easily have 1 player transfer between now and then.

Didn't Varnado give up his scholarship his senior year so we could bring in John Reik? It'd be nice for that happen again and actually be worth it this time.

Why are people worried about making room on the roster 2 years from now? Someone will end up transferring or getting kicked off the team or no qualifying or something by then. Or we'll tell a current commit to look elsewhere.

There is no opportunity in JPS school system to graduate early. They do not offer summer school core classes for kids to graduate early according to a JPS mom I know. Their teachers are all consumed in summer catching kids up that are behind. I don't think there is an opportunity for Malik. Has been a little talk in Jackson community he is looking at Oak Hill. I don't know the validity of that rumor, however.

The point is that in order to fit Newman Ray will have to tell someone to pack. Don't be confused. I'm TOTALLY FOR THIS but have been getting blasted by a couple of posters on here for saying Ray should do this exact thing. Ray is NOT above cutting players for lack of talent compared to a better signee. He should do this with 2-3 more and get some ****ing shooters already.

Good grief, if we are so fortunate as to get Newman, who we might have to process out of the program to make room is the least of my concerns.

You're missing my point. I'm totally 10000000000000000000% in favor of signing Malik Newman. He's a phenomenal basketball player. The point is that Rick Ray is willing to cut a current player or pull an offer to a player already committed to make room for Malik. This thought process is what I have been saying Ray needs to do with 3-4 players and have gotten blasted continuously for saying this. And C34 yes a player could leave because they see the writing on the wall and save Ray from having to cut them but the thought process is still there for Ray. He understands that he may have to cut a player if they don't cut themselves. This is the definition of forced turnover. What I've been saying he needs to do. Good job Rick Ray!!!
