Ready is awesome. Is it just me or does Barry Booker not like us? He just made a bold prediction that Henderson will lead Ole Miss to a victory in the second half. Thomas just needed some confidence. He is a good shooter overall. Sword hitting some medium to long range jumpers helps tremendously too. This is the basketball I remember. If Coach Ray can continue this type of winning, the fans will come back. Heck, he even knew when to call a timeout. Stans and Dick Williams never understood when to call a timeout. Would always make me mad. Looks like Ray does. :)

We beat a 7 scholarship with two of them being freshman, Vandy team. It was fun to watch us actually make some shots and we'll be better next year just based on the fact that Ray will have a full roster. But, yesterday and today didn't do much to change anyone's mind on whether Ray can get the job done. Next year will be the answer.

It was all due to the fact this team had nothing to play for. So no pressure. They were loose. Then in the 2nd half they realized they had pride and bragging rights riding on the game....they got tighter than LTs wallet. On a few possessions nobody wanted to shot but Sword. We just don't have the players. Sword and Thomas are good. Fred and Johnson can help on occasion. That is it. Ray is going to have to recruit better.

The three things I think made the difference were:
1. Borchert not contributing productively on D and then taking really bad shots
2. Fred's ankle shut down the outside shooting game
2. Not attacking the rim when AK went to the 1-2-1 (Borchert part of that problem too)

Yes. Number one was huge. I would add a fourth and say there was a spell there where the refs were doing everything they could to ensure ole miss had a shot to get back in the game. I hate using that as an excuse, and although it is a secondary one, it's still true.

Our energy level that had been so good for 3 straight halves went out the window and we started standing around, lobbing passes back and forth til the shot clock wound down and took bad shots. We quit attacking and that cost us. We scored 22 points in the 2nd half folks. 22! That is tightening up and not playing loose anymore. They outscored us by 21 points in the 2nd half to beat us. Oh well, we at least got to see some signs of life these last 2 games and is much better carrying over to next season than coming in losing 14 straight!

Now we get to watch the Rebels beat UGA tomorrow and hope they get put out in the semi's. I don't see how they could win the tourney with the way their bigs play. Summers/Henderson can't win it by themselves.

Yesterday and a good portion of today's game showed vast improvement in certain players. You wear down when you play 7 guys and one of them only hurt us offensively and defensively.

Streakiness is a symptom of a young team that hasn't fully matured yet. We just lost our wits for a while tonight and played tight and out of control. That doesn't happen with veterans.

We have length and athleticism? Where? FTF is the only guard with both. Borchert is neither athletic nor long for a 4 man. No, we shouldn't give up offensive rebounds, but that's a natural consequence of being forced to help on a shooter like Henderson.

Well I didn't DVR the game so I can't tell you specifics. We extended almost every screen on him (except the mental lapses which he made). I think if you flip rosters Ray beats Kennedy 8 out of 10. Kennedy was melting hard at the end and his players were so unprepared to finish.

Ray just needs some shooters, no way it should've been close.

Henderson killed us in the 2nd not only with his 3's but 2 defensive plays in a row that got Bloodman benched for a few minutes. The charge and the walk helped get the Rebels I can't remember, either 4 or 5 points closer and helped turn momentum even more so and get Crackhead going. The main thing that happened the last 15 minutes was our players bungholes tightened up to a new level and we turned the ball over or took bad shots or dribbled around throwing lob passes around until we had to take a bad shot at the end of the shot clock.

On to the next season. Can't be any worse and should have potential to be much better. For Ray's sake, I hope it is a much better season.

I believe next year will be better because Ray is going to do all that he can to make things better, and I will be at the Hump cheering on this team and yelling "Hail Damn State!". Also, to everyone that has been negative about the basketball program the last two years, please pull the sticks out of your asses and support this team and coach.
