Braves signed a starter named Sanchez to a 1 yr deal worth 14 million ..... I think they know more about Medlin's condition than the press does at this point and panicked .... although you gotta like their commitment to this season

I saw it was reported last night that Medlen does have ligament damage and was meeting with Dr. Andrews today or tomorrow for further evaluation. Never sounds good when your next appointment is with a surgeon.

Santana had a career best year last year for the royals. Hopefully he can continue that with the braves. Props to wren going out and getting a starting pitcher

Didn't something happen to Beachy too?

Here's video from presser: http://m.ajc.com/videos/news/wren-discusses-santana-signing/vCS8nG/

Beachy left Monday's game with "tightness" in his elbow. It hasn't garnered the attention of Medlen's injury but there's no real news yet.

ervin santana is a solid SP. especially to sign this late in spring training. he's had several good, quality years (08, 10, 11, 13), but several bad years too (05-07 - youth probably played a role -, 09, 12).

2008 was his best season.

Looks like Medlen gonna have his second TJ . Too many of those today at all levels of pitching.

Beachy over analyzes everything and is mentally strained by focusing on injury issues. Right now, it's "tightness" and not a pop or tear of anything like that. I think the media is just running with it because of the Medlan issue or else it would probably be a non-issue.

Aren't pitchers supposed to tighten up in the spring while they're getting their arm in shape for the season?

Beachy has tightness in the biceps not elbow, although I wouldn't expect anything out of him this year. Pitchers with the inverted W mechanics never last

Santana is a very good signing, imo. He can be a solid 2 or 3 when he's on. I think it says that Medlen is definitely going to have his 2nd TJ surgery, though.

As for Beachy, the article I read in the AJC yesterday said that it's tightness, but that he and the Braves both think it's just a normal part of the recovery process. Nothing they're too worried about yet. Still, it's a big concern that 4 of our 5 projected starters are all dealing with some form of injury right now. But Frank Wren didn't see the need to go get an ace this offseason. Great GM.*******
