Per his twitter. Likely means a few things:

-His hands we'rent improving
-Great getting his home run ability in the backfield. With all the pounders we have, he's the perfect change of pace.
-Gabe Myles is likely now your #2 slot

I'm all for this move. Kid is a blazer that needs to be involved in the offense and slot wasn't translating to his skill set. It will be easier to get him the ball and allow more creative ways to get him touches.

I think Boss Ross would be the #2 slot.

Interesting...I like the move. Guy could provide us with a few explosive plays in the season that could be the difference in a w/l.

I wonder if the staff trusts him to field kickoffs. Holloway has the speed to break one wide open

I've seen this suggested before, but I don't fully understand it. Fred Ross isn't the type of guy we like in the slot. He is an outside guy.

I agree smootness. I don't doubt that Ross can play slot but we've always seem to put different type players at slot. Gabe fits that mold and Jamoral Graham coming in this summer does too. Add in Donald Gray next Febuary.

I hope he shows out. I think most fans overrate his explosive ability because I'm still waiting to see it really. I guess an almost kick off return touchdown against Alcorn State is a start.

He is lightning fast. Just gets crushed when he gets touched though. He needs some muscle added.

It's a good move. He can be a dangerous 3rd down back and did well at rb last spring

We're going to use more TE's and be more physical. That means alot of MoJo and Hutchinson on the field at the same time. That leaves only 2 WR spots in those formations. Do you want Ross running 3rd at best behind RoJo and Bear- or do you want him running 2nd behind Tubby?

The old Mullen patented "square peg in a round hole" approach. I laughed.

Absolutely amazing how short our memories are. Idiots like you get on Mullen for things like this, but apparently don't remember what it REALLY felt like to see our round offense ramrodded with a square peg. Go back and check out tapes of 2004-2008, call up Omarr Conner, then get back to me. Nothing Mullen has done or will ever do compares with what dipshit Croom did to that poor guy. Let's take it even further - Tyler Russell - at least he put up decent stats in Mullen's offense and will get a shot at the NFL. Croom torpedoed Conner's potential, as he did just about everybody else's who actually listened to him.

Holloway is awful. He needs to be a return specialist. Can't catch, too small to be anything other than a scatback for about 5 plays a game. And he'll be buried behind at least 3 RBs at our deepest position on the team.

that's what he will be. Nobody is expecting him to compete for serious PT at running back. He'll get 5-10 snaps a game to try and get him the ball in space

I've gotta disagree here. Go to as many spring practices as you can and watch him. You'll change your tune. The challenge with him is putting him in positions to succeed. 5 rushes per game as a scat-back, 3rd down specialist is a valuable role on any team. I'm not gonna write off a soph.

I never understood why during games we would make him run fly patterns constantly. We should have been getting him the ball on screens, jet sweeps, draws as a running back, etc.

I spent the last 2 years saying Joe Morrow sucked and wouldn't be an impact player. You & your little circle told me not to write him off, too. Guess what? You're still waiting for him to break out as a damn RS JR, when most of the rest of us can admit he's a below average WR stealing valuable reps from Bear Wilson. And that's just one guy. I also told anyone who'd listen that Kendrick Market was going to be a damn good player for us. I could go on and on, but you're too ignorant to appreciate when you're getting destroyed by facts.

No one questions Holloway's speed. It's legit. And he'd be insane as a return guy. But if we're expecting him to be some great productive offensive weapon, it's not going to happen. His best chance for that was at WR, but he apparently can't catch a cold, much less a football. I'd rather look at him as a DB at this point. He's fast enough, if he's willing to be physical and tackle. But I'm saying it now, he'll never be anything more than a gimmick offensive player and return man.

He was open running the fly and showed the ability to stretch the field vertically. He just couldn't catch shit. We should have also mixed in some of the other things you suggested for him, but the fly route wasn't a bad idea at all. The biggest problem is that Tubby is an elite SEC slot WR, so you have to maximize his touches. Giving Holloway the extra touches would have taken them away from Tubby. I think we can all agree that would have been a shitty idea.

Joe Morrow has gotten better every year he's been here. He made some good catches for us last year.

What you don't understand, is that not every player we recruit is going to be a superstar. There are plenty of uses for solid team role players. There aren't any "facts" to destroy anyone with until they leave campus. Big damn difference in Damein Robinson's and Joe Morrow's contributions to our team. Who knows if Holloway will be any good? If he takes ONE run to the house next year, then he will have been worth it. And no telling when someone DOES break out as an upperclassmen, it happens all the time. Clausell sucked until last year. Prescott grew up on the fly over the course of one year, night and day difference between him in the Auburn game vs. the Egg Bowl. I'm the one that could go on and on.

Get your head out of your ass. I bet you also think C.J. Johnson sucks? I mean, he hasn't really become a superstar over 3 years, he has to suck right?

I understand it from a pure speed standpoint, but I didn't understand it from a hands/catching ability standpoint. I wouldn't want Holloway to take any of Tubby's touches, but if I was going to use Holloway last year, it would have been maybe one touch a game on something really high percentage in space as opposed to something low percentage.

Dak = Tebow
JRob = stronger Chris Rainey
MoJo = A Hernandez
Brandon Holloway = Jeffrey Demps
Tubby = Percy
RoJo = Luis Murphy

Think about it. Our offense is built very, very similar to UF's last championship team. Their defense won it. Their offense managed it.

Just a reminder of last year's spring game stats. I know it's "just" a spring game but he was impressive nonetheless

We can call it what we are. We're a poor man's Florida Gators, circa 2007-2009.

Totally agree with that. But that's about Holloway's ceiling as an offensive player. He's got value, but it's almost exclusively on STs in the return game.

I agree. it's not quite the same level of talent, but it's built very similar and it's still more talent than we've ever had across the board on offense.

Exactly.. Holloway wouldn't get 10 touches at WR all year, so yes putting him in a position at scat back to get the ball in his hands is a great move. I would be shocked if he got 5 touches a game , but he can fly and if he gets in open space no one is catching him.. Im sure CDM will have a few plays in his back pocket for Holloway and I agree I hope he figures in to the return game much more..

There's not a player in CFB right now that's comparable to Percy Harvin. That guy was/is an absolute freak (when fully healthy).
