Dr. Frank Jobe Dies at 88

Dr. Frank Jobe died today. He was the first surgeon to do Tommy John surgery on, you guessed it, Tommy John in 1974. He is in Cooperstown as of last year. Sad day in baseball history as one of the great medical pioneers dies.

He operated on my uncle's elbow, but I don't think he did Tommy John on him.

Jobe's work paved the way for others to make millions for sure. And in a round about way, people like him got me interested in the medical field from my interest in baseball.

pretty cool he made Cooperstown. Didn't realize that. Well worth the trip for those of you that haven't been.
