I could see him using it as an opportunity to get out of Kentucky while he's ahead. He's been under a lot of fire lately for various reasons. Also, a lot of the Kentucky crowd has never been too keen on his one-and-done recruiting style. They tolerate it as long as he's making Final Fours, but a year or two more of mediocrity (in their eyes) and the pitchforks could come out.

He would fail miserably at the NBA level. Cal succeeds at recruiting. That's what makes him a great college coach. He would completely tank when the playing field is X's and O's instead of paying AAU coaches.

Don't leave Shaka Smart off the UK short list. But it's guaranteed to be one of those 2, should Cal leave. Believe it when I see it, though.

Neither one would recruit near as good as Calipari. However, they are better actual coaches than Cal, so it would probably be a wash.

He went to the pros for a while with the New Jersey Nets. Was 72-112 and fired. I agree I don't see him being any better in the pros now.
He also has a history of NCAA problems which he usually leaves the school with when he moves on.

I don't believe Cal will ever go back to the NBA. He's not a great coach. He is one of the best recruiters around but that doesn't help you in the Association.

Any chance we can land Cal when he flames out at the NBA again?
