Here is the starting lineup for today's 1:00 PM First pitch. Also, ESPN is filming the SEC Network commercial of LFL all day today so let's try to fill it up.

This is our best lineup right now. Hopefully our bats come alive.

Is that 4 RH hitters in a row at the bottom of the order? I bet Cohen's head almost exploded when he made that out.

Dammit, we're wasting Fitts on EIU. The lineup is great, but it also probably means that Walker/Randolph will catch the MI State game. And we'll likely see one of Brown/Robson/Armstrong starting in the OF in Game 2 as well.

Probably not what we wanted to do and really it's not ideal- but it's what works best for us.

Is it sad that I would rather watch 10 minutes of live field preparation on HailState TV, than 10 minutes of our basketball team play Mizzou before the baseball game starts?

Ugh, we're wearing the ASStros "throwback" jerseys that we've never worn ever in our history.

1-0 Dawgs.

Dawgs up 1-0 after 1. Vick & Detz both single. Vick steals 3rd & scores on an errant throw.

Something is just wrong with our hitting approach. I don't know if we just have too many guys dropping the bat head when they swing or what but we have WAY too many popups and lazy fly outs for a team that KNOWS they have little to no power.

CadaverDawg
03-01-2014, 02:25 PM
I'll take the early run, but it's a damn shame that it took a throwing error to score it.

2 on with no outs and Wes Rea up, and we score 1 on a throwing error. 3 straight pop ups end the inning. Got to get this popup shit out of our system

And Fitts only needs 4 pitches to get through the 2nd.

Gorgeous throw by Collins to nail the runner at 2nd. I think he has to be the everyday C unless he just really struggles at the plate.

For anyone watching via Hailstate, you gotta love these instant replays where they just show the exact same thing they showed already, with the same angles/transitions, and the same shaky camera work. Haha, really gave me a much better look at that grounder to Rea.

War Machine Dawg
03-01-2014, 02:43 PM
Agreed on Collins. Dogs still lead 1-0 headed bottom 3. 9-1-2 due up.

This team will be lucky to break .500 in SEC play the way we don't hit. We don't have any hitters, just swingers.

Why not wait until a 3-1 count before doing a hit and run? That cost us a runner when the next pitch was hit by Rea.

It forces the hitter to swing at a crappy pitch to protect the runner and takes the hitters count away

This is their ace. He held Lafayette to 1 run when they beat them 5-1. They pitched their #2 guy yesterday vs Michigan State.

Geez, Collins. With him behind the plate, once our defense settles down, it's going to be really, really tough for teams to score on us.

maroonmania
03-01-2014, 04:13 PM
Well there goes the lead. Bullpen letting us down again though as the killer was the lead off walk to the worst hitter on their team. The HR that Gentry gave up was actually on a pretty good 0-2 pitch that was down and away. Just got the bat on it just right somehow to put it right down the LF line.

Is Holder even available this weekend?

Will James
03-01-2014, 04:16 PM
Lindgren mismanagement syndrome. Put him in BEFORE the damage. 2nd time in two weekends now.

Should have been Holder not Gentry anyway IMO. Lindgren should be starting tonight. Whatever. It'll work itself out. If we use Lingo 2 IP per weekend ill be livid

Well, CT is just NOT clutch. Probably would have popped up swinging if he had been allowed to. Hope Garner has some more late inning magic.

Lindgren is back, gentlemen. And he is filthy

maroonmania
03-01-2014, 04:45 PM
Yep, and its also ridiculous we didn't bring in Lindgren when we brought in Gentry and still had a 2 run lead. Now we are likely to burn up arms in extra innings trying to win this game. Nothing is going to come easy for this team.

Hendo is a good player and I love him but he rarely comes through in a clutch spot IMO.

Heck is a heck of a player. If he can start getting plucked a time or two a series he'd be a huge plus for us.

Not really lucky. We got it done.

And I don't understand why fans get upset when players celebrate too much. They're college kids, and they just won a game in the bottom of the 9th. Of course they're going to celebrate and go crazy.

Who cares, it's sports; it's supposed to be fun, especially when you win.

Anyone would do that in baseball. It's actually more arrogant not to celebrate IMO.

In baseball you ALWAYS celebrate a walk off. Even the Marlins celebrate when they are 40 games out of the playoffs if it's a walk off. It's tradition.
