To keep from cluttering the official thread, I wanted to keep commentary separate. The first pick is in, and to no one's surprise, 34 went with a surprise! Safe pick. I like it.

I look at it as- I'm if I'm sitting here questioning something- why draft the mf'er? Matthews is ready to play and play well. Plus, it does no good to have a QB if you cant protect him

dickiedawg

Hey, I agree. I liked last year's draft, with all the tackles going off the board early.

Just for discussion sake what were the picks you were considering at the #1 spot. When you say "I'm sitting here questioning something" I can think of two picks right off the bat where there are questions.

dickiedawg
02-28-2014, 09:48 AM
And another OT taken. It's good to be the Rams, as far as this exercise is concerned.

ETA: Then again, I wouldn't trade on-field success for an exciting draft. I'm not an Ole Miss fan, after all.

I feel like he blows. I would rather draft Bo Wallace

The Rams are willing to move the 13.

Passed on Clowney because Rams have a ton of young defenders that are about to get paid and desperately need an anchor LT. It was Mathews or Robinson all the way and I had Robinson rated higher.

Clowney is a HOF talent but I question his "IT" factor. I watched him quit some on the field last year- I dont want that shit on my team
Manziel is going to play well for awhile- but I heavily question his durability
I dont think Bridgewater is worthy of being picked that high

I simply took Matthews over Robinson because Matthews is more ready to play now- even though Robinson has more top end talent

anyone shocked with Bortels at 3 to the Jags? A lot of people have him the #3 QB but I think he's clearly the number one.

Dawghouse

he may not be available at the 3. A lot of mock drafts have the Texans taking him.

Question for you. If he doesn't drop to the 3 spot do you take a chance on Bridgewater or Maziel or do you go to another position of need?

Coach34
02-28-2014, 10:10 AM
Jacksonville needs talent- they dont need to take any chances on that 3rd pick not working out

I think in a normal year Bridgewater is an 18th-27th pick and the 3rd-4th QB taken....he just looks better in a down year for QB's.

Yeah I kind of agreed with you on the qb talent in this draft. I wasn't comfortable with Carr being any better than Cassell. Shore up the defense and Cassell should be able to manage the offense with the talent they have.

I would've considered Bridgewater although I have some issues with his accuracy on a lot of throws. He's honestly almost as much of a project as Logan Thomas is IMO... at least at the NFL level. Jags needed a franchise face and someone thT can brig excitement and commitment to the team. Bortles can be that guy, and he's the only guy in this draft IMO, that can do that regardless of position. A franchise LT blocking for a shit show at QB accomplishes nothing, plus this draft is OL and WR deep.
