I need to pick up a trolling motor battery this week. Any suggestions or warnings of certain brands? It's for a small 30lb thrust Minn Kota, but it will probably get used pretty hard.

I use the 29 series Walmart batteries for the simple fact that if they crap out, you can take them back anywhere... pro rated, of course... I just replaced two last year after 6 years. The key is to keep them charged and check the water regularly.

Check this out. You want to look at the RC and Optima is not it.

I've tried just about all of them in my boats. Optima is the only one I consider these days.
