I actually feel worse about this baseball team than I do the basketball team. I really didn't expect much from basketball but so far in baseball, which I had high hopes for, we have choked away EVERY close game we've played so far against average to poor competition through no clutch hitting, crappy defense or pitchers giving up key hits. It seems early on that our veteran players weren't ready for the season and are struggling. Maybe they got cocky after last year's finish.
I believe that this was just bound to happen during the circumstances, but we have the coach to fix it. He will get us figured out in time to make a run but we would rather them happen now than tourney time.

We have the talent.... maybe we just need some team leaders to step up and lead this ****in team. Look what Dak did with our football team. If it was a hit and run, then he HAS to make it to third base. Now, it may have been shitty luck since the ball was hit to LF with a LH hitter meaning the left fielder was in thus making it easier to throw him out. I don't know. Sounds like it was close either way.

People keep saying that we're cocky and I don't think it's that. I think it's dealing with expectations. And the reason I think that is because we have all these guys trying to do too much and not playing within themselves. Woodruff tried to strike everyone out in his first outing. He comes back and pounds the strike zone and does well. Cohen said we're taking softball swings against Memphis- again- trying to do too much. We're seeing stupid errors from guys that are normally consistently good defensive players. I think they need to relax and take it one game at a time and not try to win a National Title in one game.

I think the outfielders as a unit are doing pretty well overall. If anything we are crowded there.

We're settled at first and second. So, really we need to find a third baseman and a catcher and hopefully a SS. I think we are close at catcher- Collins had a big hit and Walker also had a good day defensively. I think we have to go with them. I think Hann needs to play either at third or SS- preferably SS. He played well defensively today coming in after Humphries booted a ball.

Catcher and third base have been killing us it seems like- as well as Rea defensively.

Bryce Harper, Craig Biggio, Yogi Berra, Hunter Renfroe ...... All catchers who moved to the OF and thats just off the top of my head

I'm one of the ones who doesn't think OF is a big problem right now. CT is CT. Vick is still getting acclimated, but doing good things. Hendo is gonna Hendo. And I really like Cody Brown. But we need some more pop in the lineup, and we need to fix the left side of the infield. I actually like Collins at C, but I want to give Garner a shot.

The big problem is 3B. Detz is an OBP machine, but has the range of a corpse. Humphries is pretty solid defensively, but has apparently realized his just a freshman at the plate. If you play Hump, you HAVE to DH Detz, imo. That takes Garner out of the lineup, since Cohen seems hellbent on giving him no shot at C. I'd put Hann at SS and call it a day. He plays solid D and has hit better than Britton so far, although that isn't saying much.

Havent seen it. He was bad last year... Very bad in the fall.... Not sure about Spring... and done nothing yet this year.

I'm one of the ones who doesn't think OF is a big problem right now. CT is CT. Vick is still getting acclimated, but doing good things. Hendo is gonna Hendo. And I really like Cody Brown. But we need some more pop in the lineup, and we need to fix the left side of the infield. I actually like Collins at C, but I want to give Garner a shot.

I 100% agree with you there. Im all for Hann at short. I just think we have to give Humphries time at 3rd. LSU made a freshman work at short last year so why can't we do it at 3rd. I just don't understand why we will not give Garner a chance at C. If they are all equal defensively which Ive heard is the case why not take the best hitter out of the three, which has clearly been Garner.
