Serious question that needs to be addressed. In my opinion, we have one more winnable game in South Carolina. If State loses that, then Ray will have lost 13 games in a row including the SEC tourney game. If we lose out, does Rick Ray get fired? I don't see how you can sell any season tickets if we lose 13 in a row. Stricklin might be a marketing guru but you can't market that. Yes we will be better next year, but can you get any worse? Call me negative, call me whatever but this is a hypothetical that could very easily happen.

Dawg61

Colin and Roq get benched or foul trouble? Both didn't play the last 14 minutes. Wilson got about 10 minutes that half. Thomas is nonexistent on offense. Can we get him some ***** or something. His confidence is so fragile.

If I were AD I would tell Ray he needs a minimum of 7 league wins next year for him to feel comfortable about getting a 4th year. it's time to start to putting some pressure on him to produce.

Coach34
02-19-2014, 09:43 PM
Ray knows he has to put a team on the floor that performs better in 2015

But our Admin is happy and supportive of the way he has eliminated the drama and drug use from the program. It's not Ray's fault he has gotten production from 1 player- 1 ****ing player- leftover from Stands. That's why our program is in the shape it;s in

Thats not true. They are the reason Stands had to go. We had an extreme drug problem in our basketball program. It had to be corrected- the players chose drugs over playing basketball- that means severe problem.

Coach , what happened to you prediction of 6-7 SEC wins. When Ray sux next year are you still gonna blame Stans? U can spin it ever how you want but he has more than 1 recruiting year. Do you think if you just keep saying the same stupid shit it will be true. Ware and Chicken are two quality players, both Stansburys recruit. Shit Mullen has recruited better than Ray on this team.

02-19-2014, 10:10 PM
I feel pretty confident that Ray gets another year as long as our players don't go all Malice in the Palace after losing every game here on out***
I strongly disagree with C34 though on Wilson. He gave us good minutes tonight and a spark off the bench. After tonight, I am glad he is playing basketball on our team. He hustles and isn't afraid to bang down low with taller players. He knows how to combat his size disadvantage by using good technique when boxing out.
He also made his first 4 free throws (at least.)
There's another 6'5" power forward from Alabama that made a living down low and grabbing boards. While Wilson is no Barkley and has a future in the NFL, it is something to consider when evaluating Wilson's ability to contribute.

I think the Troutman kid that was mentioned earlier today is a must get if he can shoot as well as reported AND he is already visiting us. He's 6'4' so no complaining about being "too small to shoot." We have gotten to the point tonight where we don't even try to shoot jump shots because we are so terrible.

Intramural All-American
02-19-2014, 10:15 PM
Our problem is we have no size. Borchert fouling out doesn't help. Our guards had to help on the big men all night long opening up their shooters and they didn't miss. This is one reason why just having Houston and Ndoye next year will help out in a huge way.

We actually played well tonight taking away the turnovers. We started off terribly, but really played solid the rest of the game, we had just dug too big of a hole. We shot 50% from the field. We had multiple opportunities to give up tonight, and we fought back every time.

Coach you are a bad ass name caller behind that keyboard. And you stanch on Basketball shows who the idiot might be. Your hustling defense playing Rick rays just gave up 90 plus. Our shooting wasn't pathetic tonight. 50% from the floor and 72% from the FT line. However, we rarely get second chance points and we give up way too many of them every game. Goodness, it will be nice to have more big bodies next year

Why was LSU playing man to man D on us? Craig Sword eats up man defense. We need or bring somebody in this off season and get him a mid range jumper. Hell, if he could shoot a 15 footer, he would average 20 plus a game. LSU should be a better team than they are now. They have some very good interior players, a dang good point guard. The freshman of the year or should be anyway, and Stringer can get hot and fill it up from the outside. No excuse dor them not to have a. Better record than they do. Their inside game man handled us all night and it wasn't JOB3 either. Well I think he did have 5 assist when our guards came to help and he kicked it to wide open 3 pointers. I think LSU had 8 3's and he had assists on most of those. We just aren't going to be competitive on the road But we did play much better after the 24-4 srtArt and didn't leave embarrassed by 40. Can we get a W before the end of the season? Where can we get a W?

02-19-2014, 10:34 PM
We give up so many easy buckets a game it's sickening. The zone D will give a few easy put backs on rebounds but we give up open layups within the zone way too easily. We haven't figured out yet that a throw goes in to the free throw line area, everybody doesn't need to crash up to get that man. We do and they dump it down low and an easy layin or dunk. Frustrating to watch it over and over throughout a game. I'm not looking this up but I would bet we are giving up a higher point per game in SEC play than we have in a while. We can't stop anybody from scoring

This goes without saying but I was very pleased with Bear Wilson's play tonight. He's better than Fred Thomas.

I actually agree with you in that Bear should flip minutes with Thomas at this point. Bear should be at the point now where he understands what we're trying to do on defense enough so that he's not a liability. As long as Thomas's streaky shooting continues (I know I argued a month ago that he was improving, but it's fairly obvious his good January numbers were an anomaly), he's not bringing anything to the table that Bear isn't, and Bear adds rebounding and a little more toughness. I still think Thomas will end up being a good player for us if he can just find his confidence and work with a shooting guru over the summer on his mechanics a little, but for now, he's just not contributing a whole lot other than good defense.
