I have recently started drinking some of the dark beers but don't know much about them. Hoping you guys might suggest a few "must tries". I live in the B'ham area so should be able to find most. Thanks!

I like the Old Rasputin Russian imperial stout by North Coast, pretty easy to find. Has a very rich, smoky taste and pours like motor oil.

You can try some of the local stuff- Lazy Magnolia's Jefferson Stout; Southern Prohibition's Hipster Breakfast and Crooked Letter's Mystery Romp (if you like coffee flavor), etc.. Back Forty has a solid scotch ale out right now, I recommend that if you want a little kick.

Rogue has some good stuff- Double Chocolate Stout particularly.

Stone Arrogant Bastard
Oscar Blues Ten Fiddy

those are pinnacles of greatness, although I don't think arrogant bastard is technically a stout. I don't hardly touch any other kind and rarely drink anything other than IPAs or miller Lite.

Thanks, everyone. I'll try to pick these up.
