So, um....Hudson's stuff looks sick. He is throwing darts and keeping it low. He just has the look of a dominant ace; not saying he'll be that this year, but he's got everything you need.

may not be indicative of what we see the rest of the season but there are some things so far that bother me. We're striking out WAY too much against good but non SEC pitching (the guy Friday night has SEC stuff so I'll give them a pass on that game). We aren't manufacturing runs and although we've got some speed we still suck at stealing bases. The catching position also concerns me. We knew we didn't have much power but we've been outhit on the weekend thus far.

That was actually a good inning for us aside from the missed bunt by Randolph.

ETA: I would bet almost 50% of our bunts are drag bunts trying to get a hit as opposed to a sac bunt.

We certainly have had spurts. Western Carolina is a good mid major though. While some aspects of our hitting needs to improve, I'm not too upset because of how good our opponent is plus the fact that it's the first weekend. If we win this series, it will help us out down the road for sure.

My only real complaint so far this weekend is that we really aren't hitting the ball well.

We've only got 17 hits through 2 1/2 games. I just thought we would be hitting the ball a little better. Maybe the bats will get hot the last few innings with the pressure off.

I don't mind the lack of hits nearly as much as I do the K's though. putting the ball in play is critical if we're going to win grinding it out like we do. Can't strikeout and do that...

Totally agree - 9 strikeouts in 5 innings is just not getting it done. Im just glad our pitching staff is lights out.

yep. Also happened Friday night on a 3 rd strike and ended up being an RBI hit that eventually cost us the game... or at least extra innings.
