they decided this a while back, but yeah it is good news and should help with depth there. If he can put on 15-20 lbs he could be a legit road grader. He'd make a hell of a lot more money as an OT in the NFL than he would as a back up blocking TE too. May as well make a run out of it... good move for him and the team.

Can't coach 6'7. I like the move a lot.

I've been saying this for 2 weeks- wtf? What's next- is Les Koenning going to leave?

(I think I heard that Pawwwwwl was the first to announce it a couple of weeks ago)

This has been known for a while. Bob Carskadon said he is going to be Claussell's backup at LT. I assume that means it puts Justin Senior in the running at RT with Joquell, Robinson and possibly Malone.

That's interesting. I figured that we would move Malone to RT and then if he does well move him to LT. However, with Warren being a former TE, he probably has pretty good athelticism which is what you want at LT.

I'm glad we are making this move because we need some seniors for 2015.

2015 possible starting o-line:

C- Desper Jr.
LG- Clayborn- Jr.
RG- Jocquell Johnson Sr. or Jake Thomas So. or Kent Flowers So.
LT- Warren Sr.
RT- Malone 5th year Jr., maybe Senior Jr. if we have to move Malone back to RG.

Gonna be interesting this Spring- Day and Clausell are about to be 4 year starters- so they wont get worked to death. They can spend alot of time working with the other guys on the little nuances of playing OL. The younger guys will get alot of reps and teaching.

Warren will be outstanding with body positioning and feet. He's been doing a shit ton of run blocking drills already- so nothing new there for him. He will just have to get alot of work on pass protection.

They said he only plans on gaining 10 lbs. maybe he is bigger already than most think.

The 265 weight that he is listed at was what he was before the season started. I suspect either this has been in the works for awhile and/or Warren probably gained some weight during the course of the season.

Since we're pretty well supplied at TE, maybe they will consider moving Samuel to OG or OT. He has a big frame and appears to me would be well suited to play on the OL.

Samuel has great hands. I like him at TE.

Any chance he redshirts this year so we will have him down the road or has he used his already?

The only players from the class of 2011 who did not redshirt their freshman year are Dee Arrington and PJ Jones. But Dee will likely get a redshirt for 2013 since he played in less than 30% of our play due to injury.

TEs make much better Ts than Gs. Plus, Samuel is 6'1". And while we're loaded at TE now, next year it will just be Hutcherson and Samuel, plus Hammond and/or Walley, and Hutcherson will be a Sr. We need Samuel at TE.

I'm feeling really good about our O line and the offense in general. Rufus has basically been used as an extra lineman already. He will make the line even deeper.

Nooo, sir... I love Samuel's game. Good hands, blocks well, strong bodied.. I'd utilize the hell out of him where he's at now.

Samuel has a chance at the NFL- he isn't moving to the OL

Warren was a blocking TE that was growing into an OT

I think Warren is about 275-280 right now.

There are a lot of varieties of TE's in the NFL. Some are 6'7" like Jimmy Graham. Some are 6'2" like Dustin Keller. Most are somewhere in the middle.

I think Samuel might also possibly get a look at FB in the NFL, which is a position we don't use a lot at MSU. We have H-backs that double as both TE/FB/Slot WR.
