Bruiser Kinard from Ole Miss is in. Also Lem Barney, JSU. Jerry Rice too. Ok, I better stop now. I think there's a bunch from the swac.

Ole Miss has at least two because Gene Hickerson played for them. And there was Kinard. Jackson State had Payton, Lem Barney, and Jackie Slater. Jerry Rice from Valley and then one of my personal favorties- Deacon Jones- played at some college in Mississippi that is now closed, but I think it was in the SWAC.

Then there are a few that played at Mississippi JUCO's like Cortez Kennedy, Jim Taylor, and Walter Jones who was elected today went to Holmes.

The SWAC had some hellacious players from the 50's-80's...then the decline started

Mississippi Vocational College, which then became MVSU. So yes, MVSU has 2 Hall-of-Famers. And they're probably 2 of the top 15 or so players of all-time.

Not the NFL but we've got Jackie Parker in the CFL HOF since 1971.

Only florida and Texas are the only two SEC states with more then Mississippi. As of September 2013 we were number ten.

Lance Alworth, Brookhaven
Lem Barney, 33rd Avenue (Gulfport)
Willie Brown, Yazoo City
Frank (Bruiser) Kinard, Central (Jackson)
Walter Payton, Columbia
Jerry Rice, Moor (Crawford)

Discrimnation was a bad thing for Southern Football during that period.

State/Ole Miss could have been unbelievable with different attitudes toward race back in the day.

That's weird. That's about the same time Ole Miss started to decline.

A timely response, I chuckled. Plus, I never knew Deacon Jones played at Valley and I take pride in knowing stuff like that.
