He said this might be the most impressed he's been with Woodruff since the surgery- not necessarily from a stuff standpoint, but he really battled.
Woodruff didn't have his best command in the first couple of innings, and he gave up a walk, a few hits, and a run. Supposedly Woodruff battled through it, settled in, and had 1-2-3 innings in the 3rd and 4th. It's great to see a pitcher shake it off and get outs when he isn't at his best- that's the sign of an ace. I can't wait to see what he can do this spring.
My buddy also said Bracewell has been outstanding today as well and is a real player for a rotation spot. I love Bracewell when he's on, but can he get guys out when his slider isn't working? That's the biggest question for him.
