Out of high school this kid was a 5* and the #3 CB prospect, signed with ND, made his way to Holmes... are we not making a strong push for this guy? What's the story?

We were, but the last I read said he's gonna need another year of juco.

Sat out '11 season, sat out '12 season, played '13 season... going to play '14 season... just seems kind of odd. I remember there was a rule that came into place for that Marine who wanted to walk-on at MTSU last summer where if you don't enroll anywhere out of high school and just don't play football your eligibility starts regardless. 1 of the 2 years he didn't play can be considered a redshirt year, but what about the other?

Thats right - Now maybe we sign him to get our foot in the door next year, but he won't be eligible in 2014;

He is gonna be playing at MSU in 2014. I should say I think he will, I think grades are where they need to be now.

No, I'm not a know all, just going off what I've managed to scrounge up from the inter webs.

I will add that Tee himself said " I will be playing in the SEC in the FALL".

JMO, but that sounds pretty solid to me. Make the call, get down big. It's just money. I want to see some action on here! AND.... I bet he backs down if you throw it out there big. DO IT.

What makes tee tweet that he'll be in the sec this fall? Could he have gotten some good news clearance wise?

That's what I'm thinking, why would he tweet that he will be playing in the SEC this fall if he doesn't know it to be fact?

But Chris Weinke can play minor league baseball til he's 23 then play four years of college football? If his grades are right he should be able to play this fall.
Some jucos play one season then transfer to D1 like Nick James did.

I just don't see why he couldn't play here this year if he's academically eligible.

Nick James played Juco?

Bo Wallace went 1 year of Juco I think, and then transferred to Ole Miss. He was excited to learn that only transfers get PT at the Ole Miss QB position.

I might be confused. I thought he played one year juco then had three years eligibility left when he got here.

ETA: At Pearl River where he got suspended from team towards the end of the season.

No, Nick James was not a JUCO transfer. He came in 2012 with HS teammate Richie Brown but was not redshirted his freshman season. He was redshirted in 2013 due to being out of shape or off the field problems or attitude.

Then there's no reason why Tee Sheperd couldn't play this year outside of grades that I can see.

Correct. If you qualify academically out of high school and just didn't get the opportunity you were looking for you can enroll at JUCO and leave after 1 season. If you didn't have the necessary qualifications you must earn your Associates. This is why Brassell was allowed (although he didn't make it) to go to JUCO for one season and come back. This is why some JUCO's must stay until May and some are allowed to leave in December, they must graduate.

It's very rare a guy goes to JUCO who qualified and is good enough to leave after 1 year, but it happens. Mostly it's transfers like Wallace.

Actually, I think the December vs May grad has to do with how quickly they finish their Associates degree (summer courses, grades, semester courseload, etc.) and not any pre/HS-qualifying status.

They only have to complete their associates if they were nonqualifiers in high school. Otherwise they can transfer whenever they want.

That's what I said. If they all had their choice they'd be on campus in January... but they have to graduate before coming to campus. I've heard of a few that had to take a summer course before showing up too.
